Details

TZone SE Herbicide is a selective post-emergent herbicide designed to control broadleaf weeds in residential and commercial turfgrass. It combines multiple active ingredients to provide fast visible results and systemic weed control while remaining safe for labeled cool-season and warm-season lawns when used as directed.

What Weeds Does TZone SE Herbicide Control?

TZone SE Herbicide is commonly used to control difficult broadleaf weeds, including

  • Clover
  • Ground ivy
  • Wild violet
  • Dollarweed
  • Oxalis
  • Chickweed
  • Spurge
  • Plantain
  • Dandelion
  • Henbit

It is especially popular for controlling hard-to-kill broadleaf weeds in turfgrass areas where standard three-way herbicides may not provide satisfactory results.

When Is the Best Time to Apply TZone SE Herbicide?

TZone SE Herbicide works best when weeds are actively growing and outdoor temperatures are between 55°F and 85°F. Applying during mild weather helps maximize weed uptake and improves overall control.

For best results:

  • Apply to actively growing weeds
  • Avoid mowing immediately before or after application
  • Do not apply during extreme heat or drought stress
  • Apply when rain is not expected for several hours

Where Can TZone SE Herbicide Be Applied and What Grass Types Is It Safe For?

TZone SE Herbicide can be applied to established residential and commercial turfgrass areas including:

  • Home lawns
  • Commercial landscapes
  • Athletic fields
  • Parks
  • Golf course fairways and roughs
  • Institutional grounds
  • Cemeteries
  • Sod farms

TZone SE is labeled for use on many established cool-season and warm-season grasses, including:

  • Kentucky bluegrass
  • Perennial ryegrass
  • Tall fescue
  • Bermudagrass
  • Zoysiagrass
  • Buffalograss

Do not apply TZone SE Herbicide to sensitive turf types such as:

  • St. Augustinegrass
  • Centipedegrass
  • Dichondra
  • Carpetgrass

Applying to non-labeled or stressed turfgrass may result in discoloration or turf injury. Always verify your grass type is listed on the product label before application.

How Much TZone SE Herbicide Should You Mix Per Gallon?

The recommended TZone SE Herbicide mix rate depends on your turf type:

  • Cool-season grasses: Mix 1.2 to 1.5 fl oz per gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft
  • Warm-season grasses: Mix 0.75 to 0.83 fl oz per gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft

Always use enough water to evenly cover the treatment area while maintaining the proper herbicide rate per 1,000 square feet.

How Do You Mix TZone SE Herbicide With Water?

To properly mix TZone SE Herbicide with water, begin by filling the spray tank with one-half of the required amount of water. Slowly add the measured amount of TZone SE while maintaining continuous agitation, then finish filling the tank with the remaining water.

For best results:

  • Mix the solution thoroughly before spraying
  • Maintain agitation during application
  • Re-agitate the mixture if the spray solution sits for an extended period of time

Proper mixing helps ensure uniform weed control and consistent application coverage.

Can You Mix TZone SE Herbicide With Liquid Fertilizer?

Yes, TZone SE Herbicide can be tank mixed with certain liquid fertilizers when compatibility has been confirmed. Use fertilizer sources and rates recommended by your fertilizer supplier or local Extension Service. Avoid using a surfactant that can cause damage to the turfgrass being treated.

Before mixing large quantities, perform a jar test by combining proportional amounts of all products in a small container. If the mixture separates but can be easily remixed by shaking, the tank mixture may be suitable for use with continuous agitation during spraying.

What pH Should the Spray Solution Be for TZone SE Herbicide?

Do not use additives that alter the spray solution below pH 5 or above pH 8. Maintaining the proper pH range helps preserve product stability and application performance.

If needed, buffer the spray solution to maintain an appropriate pH before application.

How Soon Is TZone SE Herbicide Rainfast?

TZone SE Herbicide is rainfast in approximately 3 hours after application. If rain occurs after this period, reapplication is generally not necessary because the product has already been absorbed by the targeted weeds.

How Long Does TZone SE Herbicide Take to Work?

Visible results from TZone SE Herbicide typically begin within 10 to 14 days after application, although some sensitive weeds may show symptoms sooner. Complete control may take longer depending on the weed species, weather conditions, and maturity of the weeds being treated.

If additional applications are needed:

  • Wait at least 30 days between treatments
  • Do not apply more than 2 applications per year unless permitted by the product label

How Long Should You Wait to Overseed After Applying TZone SE Herbicide?

You should wait at least 3 weeks after applying TZone SE Herbicide before overseeding or reseeding treated areas. Waiting the full interval helps prevent injury to newly germinated grass seed and improves establishment success.

Lessons learned after 1 season of experience using TZone SE.

    By Raymond on 12/10/2020

-It is exceptionally effective and noticably faster than any 3 way or 4 way turfgrass herbicide that doesn't have either sulfentrazone or carefentrazone type ingredients. I've used a 2,4-d 3 way in early spring and saw near zero damage to the weed and TZone killed it without appearing to slow down. Ive sprayed common broad lead weeds in summer when they are not showing signs of active growth and the TZone had almost no effect. Added a soluable nitrogen (ammonium sulfate) and it killed many weeds that aren't actively growing and a common 3 way with nitrogen did nothing. The big shock for me was I really tried to get rid of creeping charlie for 2 seasons and last season Tzone was applied twice in spring and a few days after 2nd app the lawn cut shorter, de thatch raked manually and top dressed the front lawn with 3 cubic yards of very good compost 1/4 inch average depth. The charlie DID NOT COME BACK. I tried really hard to bury it before... applied way to much 3 way my first year that the grass turned pee yellow and died. I hadn't discovered these forums yet. I went a little crazy hand pulling 15+ a day often over an hour with a gardening shovel until I could see zero Roots of rhizomes. Nothing worked and it was spreading to over 1/3 of my front lawn. Say 900 sq ft or charlie with 500 sq ft packed tightly with creeping charlie... .So you can understand that to this day, it blows my mind how easy it All disappeared. Its 6-7 months later and no ground ivy is on my lawn. I saw a few tiny baby creeping charlie after scalping the back yard during a call renovation baby ground ivy is very vulnerable until t Its established. The only mistake I had to make was you need to mix it well. Its a thick milk color and adding water won't mix it like a 3 way. I did a half hearted tank shake and I killed the grass from the bottom part of my tank where it was super concentrated. I did the same error with Tenacity which requires even more energy to mix. I suggest a cordless drill with a long mixing bit. Finally the main con is the price. I bought the largest jug because it's what was available and spent nearly $300. So I never keep it in the heat or cold extremes to add shelf life. everything S

Excellent selective herbicide on cool weather turf grasses

    By Ron on 06/11/2019

Very satisfied with this product. Mixes easily and stays in solution. Destroys one of the toughest lawn weeds - wild violet - when applied as directed. Lesser lawn weeds stand little chance. While it "suppresses" yellow nutsedge as stated, it does NOT knock it out, use SedgeHammer for that purpose. Doesn't bleach-out desirable turf like Tenacity can and overall is more effective than One-Time. Spot application with a backpack sprayer + correct fertilization and watering = lawn envy.

    Great against wild violet

    By Ed on 10/15/2021

My yard was full of wild violet and nothing purchased at the box stores worked. I saw Videos on TZone and tried it. It works like a dream. Also wiped out some creeping charlie. Definitely worth the money!

    Kills Wood Sorrel in Fescue

    By Jpwinston on 05/22/2020

This seems to be very effective on woods sorrel that was taking over our fescue yard. We also have a problem with wild violets and it has suppressed those but will likely take another spot treatment for those in the fall as the label recommends. There is some browning of the fescue where I spot treated, but it's not severe. I am very pleased so far.
