    White Fly Pest Control

    By William on 03/25/2012

    Verified Purchase

Purchased the product rather then the liquid Bayer Tree Care. Bayer liquid is too expensive in comparison to this product. Arena is very small granular pellets and is easily applied then watered in to prevent any visible product. We have small dogs and I was worried about them getting into the product after application. Product has been effective at continued protection against the South Florida recent white fly infestation. I will continue to use for a few years to come as all of the Keys in Florida are highly infested. Trying to get all your neighbors to treat this pest is almost impossible so I recommend it as a way to protect your plants for extended time.

    Arena .25 Granules

    By Russell on 10/16/2012

    Verified Purchase

Had a serious recurring problem with armyworms in my zoysia lawn. Tried multiple insect control formulations available in the box stores over a period of many weeks with no success. This Arena product was recommended to me. I purchased from DoMyOwnPest Control and the product arrived in 2 days. After the initial application the moths were completely eliminated in about 5 days. My lawn now looks great. I plan to alternate this product and a Arena biological control to obtain sustained results. Very effective!

Excellent product---it stops those cinch bugs from infesting my lawn. I noticed that my Tree and Schrub service also uses Arena .25!!!! A good reference from a reputable vendor. I DIY my lawn maintenance, but use a service for my tree and schrub

Q
How much does one 30lb bag cover?

I have approx. 30,000 sq.ft. of lawn and a MAJOR chinch bug problem. Can I use a Scott's Edge Guard Deluxe Broadcast Spreader? If yes, what setting (2-15)? How many 30 lb. bags do I need for the first round, and how many bags will I need for the second round 30 days later? Also, when is the best time of year to do these applications?

A
You will need roughly 60-80 lbs of Arena .25 Granules per year for your property. You can apply half now and the other half later. You can use whatever spreader you choose and you will need to check with the manufacturer to understand how to calibrate the spreader as every model is different. You should start applying Arena .25 Granules just before the chinch bugs become active in your region. Most people are able to recall what month they have noticed damage in the past and they start making application a couple of weeks before that. For more specific timing you should call your local cooperative extension office as they will be able to narrow down the timing in your area.

Q
Can you collaborate with the major manufacturers of the spreaders to determine the proper settings?

What is the setting on X spreader? All the answers below say to refer to the manufacturer of the spreader. Asking Scotts does no good as they say Arena is not their product so they don't know the variables to determine what the setting would be. It would be more helpful to your customers to buy a few of the most popular spreaders and find out what the settings should be. There is an obvious need for that information that the manufacturers seem unable to help with.

A
We spoke with the manufacturer, Valent USA Corp on the proper settings using a Scotts Spreader using Arena .25 Granules.  You will want to set the speader setting at "I" or "J" to give you 80lb-100lb of product per acre depending on the pests you are treating. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
