Product Overview

From the makers of Demand CS comes a new granular insecticide for your lawn--Demand G. Labeled for lawn, landscape, and perimeter use, Demand G is an innovative granular insecticide that provides powerful protection against nearly 30 species of pests (including ants, beetles, mole crickets, earwigs, firebrats, millipedes, mites, silverfish, chinch bugs and more). When used outside, Demand G Granules form a barrier of protection against unwanted pests around your home. It is an ideal product for windy or rainy days when spray or liquid formulas would be rendered ineffective by weather conditions. Granule perimeter treatments are typically applied in a band of up to five feet wide around the house and can be applied to soil, ornamental plants, mulch, and lawn. Once Demand is applied, its active ingredient—lambda-cyhalothrin— begins working to disrupt the nervous system of any pest that comes in contact with it in just minutes. After the first use, you should not see traces of your target pest for several months. However reapplication may be necessary depending on the severity of the problem, climate, and other factors.

Demand G Granule bags are vacuum sealed, which compresses the granules inside.  Once opened, the vacuum seal will be broken and the granules can easily be manipulated within the bag to break them apart to their spreadable form.

Directions for Use:

Demand G Insecticide may be used for applications to maintain interior plantscapes or outdoor areas where turf and ornamental ground covers are grown such as residential landscaped areas and nonresidential landscapes around institutional, public, commercial and industrial buildings, parks, recreationalareas, and athletic fields.

Broadcast Demand G Insecticide with suitable application equipment to ensure uniform coverage over the treatment area. The application rates listed in the Lawn and Perimeter Use Rate table on the product label will provide excellent control of the respective pests under typical conditions. Use higher use rate for longer length of control. Watering (irrigation or rainfall) following application will dissolve the granules and release the insecticide. Make no more than 6 general applications per year. More frequent treatments should be limited to spot treatments.

SPECIFIC USE DIRECTIONS

Band Treatment around Foundation For control of ants, beetles, crickets, earwigs, firebrats, millipedes, mites, silverfish and sowbugs as commonly found around or near foundation of structures as well as in yards. Applying a continual band of insecticide around a building foundation can greatly reduce the potential for entry by crawling pests. For optimal control, remove debris and leaf litter from next to the foundation, cut back vegetation and branches that touch the foundation, and move or rake back rocks, deep mulch, or other potential pest harborage next to the foundation prior to application. Apply a 3 to 5 foot band of granules next to the structure foundation. Apply at the rate of 2 to 3 lbs. per 1000 square feet. Distribute granules uniformly. For optimal control, water lightly to dissolve granules.

General Lawn Application For control of ants, armyworms, centipedes, crickets, cutworms, earwigs, grasshoppers, green June beetles, Japanese beetles (adult), leafhoppers, millipedes, mites, pillbugs, sod webworms, spider mites, spittlebugs and springtails. Apply at the rate of 2 to 3 lbs. per 1000 square feet with a fertilizer spreader when grass is dry. For best results, water lawn lightly to dissolve granules. For control or suppression of billbugs, chinch bugs, dung beetles, green June beetle grubs, Hyperodes weevils, Japanese beetle grubs and mole crickets, immediately water grass thoroughly after application.

  • For billbug control, apply when activity is first observed or when chewed or brown grass indicates damage from these insects.
  • For grub suppression, except dung beetle, treat any time between late July and early October. For dung beetle grub suppression, apply in spring or early summer when damage is first noticed. For best results, water grass thoroughly with 1/4 to 1/2 inch of water as soon as possible following application. Treat again in late summer or early fall if a second generation occurs.
  • For chinch bugs, use higher rates during summer when both nymphs and adults may be present.
  • For mole crickets, make applications for adults during early spring when grass areas may be subject to continuous invasion. For best results, apply as late in the day as possible and water in with up to 0.5 inches of water as soon as possible following treatment. When the soil is not moist, irrigation before application will bring mole crickets closer to the surface to enhance contact with the granule. Applications at the time of peak egg hatch will increase control of early nymphal stages that are more susceptible to insecticides. As nymphs mature, higher rates may be necessary.

Spot Treatment for Ants

For general ant control, apply 2 teaspoons over and around each ant hill. Lightly water to dissolve granules. Apply water gently to avoid disturbing ants, first breaking any soil crust if necessary to ensure water penetrates the nest. Use of high pressure watering equipment may disturb the ants and cause migration reducing product effectiveness.

NOTE: For best results, apply in cool weather, 60° to 80° F or in early morning or late evening hours. Treat near mounds as they appear. Difficult or extensive ant infestations will benefit from a combination of broadcast treatments and spot applications. If soil is not moist, irrigate before application to bring ants closer to the surface to enhance control with Demand G Insecticide granules.

    Springtails Gone

    By Marla on 07/30/2017

I have had springtails for a few weeks every year. They were a nuisance but not something that I couldn't deal with, though I never treated them. I simply waited them out. However, 2 years ago during late July/early August, I had hundreds of them for weeks. I had to keep a vacuum cleaner in my bathroom for 2 months just to stay on top of them. It was bad enough to make me hate my house. I did a lot of on-line research and also called the Department of Entomology at Purdue University. I learned that this was a process that needed to start early in the spring, long before the first springtail made its way into my house. Starting in May, I spread Demand G granules using a manual grass seed spreader from my house out about 6 feet. The spreader worked great because it would spread them through the outside beds - a push spreader would not have been able to get to difficult-to-reach spots. I made sure there was no mulch next to the house next to the 2 bathrooms where the springtails were entering. I followed the instructions on the bag and wet the granulates to activate them. The man I spoke with at Purdue also advised me to spray a liquid insecticide formulated to kill springtails from the base of my house up about 2 feet. I did this every 3 1/2 weeks from May until the end of July. I did have a few springtails appear earlier than normal, but there weren't too many. With the last treatment, there are zero springtails. I never thought it possible to eliminate these miserable insects, but my combination plan worked. I would definitely recommend Demand G, but do not wait until you see the bugs before trying to treat - the population is already out of control if they come into your house. In my case, the springtails would seemingly appear out of thin air on the floor, but never in the shower or on windowsills. Last year they were so bad that some actually were coming out of the drain in my bathroom sink. I was afraid there was a colony underneath my slab foundation that I wouldn't be able to treat, but that does not appear to be the case. The last application I put down in July was a little heavier than usual, and I soaked the house with the liquid insecticide as well. I did not treat around my entire house, but concentrated only on the parts of the house where I saw the springtails. I am very thankful for Do My Own Pest Control, as they were helpful in answering my questions and shipped the product in a secure box in a very timely manner. I am going to repeat this process every year, as the cost was very reasonable and worth getting rid of the problem. I hope this review is helpful to those of you who think there is no hope.

    GOOD STUFF

    By The on 06/13/2011

    Verified Purchase

Recommended by my bug control guy. Good stuff, according to what I found on the Internet and others experience and a good price too. The only thing neg. about the product is that I could not find a spreader setting anywhere on the bag. So I went ahead and laid down what I thought would be appropriate for the conditions for this type of powerful bug control.

    Awesome product!

    By Allison on 09/01/2011

For the money and size of the bag its a great deal compared to competitors. I used my manual grass seed spreader for this product and it worked great. I FOLLOWED the instructions to kill grasshoppers and crickets and was amazed with the results. The description states that it could take weeks to months to fully take effect. After 2 hours I walked out into my yard and saw over 30 dead grasshoppers and crickets in my front lawn alone! I LOVE this product. Now I have enough still left over to treat in the future.

Demand G Granules Waiting to see!

    By Betty on 07/15/2014

    Verified Purchase

I've used this product twice around the perimeter of my house in about the last couple months. I have a very bad case of springtails and earwigs. This product seemed to kill the earwigs with great success but still am having trouble with the springtails. Hopefully something will come along that helps with the springtails.

    Expert ResponseExpert response:
Springtails are, unfortunately, a persistent and difficult pest to treat. Controlling them is ultimately linked to identifying and correcting the moist environment where they breed. This could be dense mulch beds adjacent to the structure, a plumbing leak indoors, buildup under a concrete slab, or a result of water damage such as flooding. We would be happy to discuss the matter with you over the telephone at 866-581-7378 M-F 9a-5p EST. We appreciate your business! Customer Service Do My Own Pest Control

Q
What can I use to make my lawn less attractive to moles?

I want to use a granular treatment around the perimeter of my house to prevent a wide variety of insects and make that area less attractive to moles. What do you recommend? I live in central Illinois, close to a wooded area. I have used Talprid for mole invasions. I also have perimeter plastic monitoring stations with wood in them. I have used Bifen IT &LP in spring and fall, but feel there may be some more effective chemicals.

A
While Bifen LP and Bifen IT are great products they are not labeled for grubs, a favorite food source for moles. We recommend trying Demand G granules. Demand G is labeled for over 30 soil dwelling insects that moles love to feed on.  Demand G works great for whole lawn treatments, perimeter applications and spot applications.
