Newly Installed lawn came up as crabgrass
New lawn installed by contractor came up as crabgrass. I have been fighting this all summer with no luck. what product can I use and still be able to reseed this fall and put down a good furtlizer down his fall. In the spring I used Scotts New lawn seed and furtlized with Scotts for new lawns.

There are some products labeled to treat for Crabgrass in residential lawns. Without knowing the type of lawn you have, we are not able to recommend the proper herbicide. We recommend contacting you Master Gardener in your county to work on a restoration and fertilizing program. A Master Gardener is a great resource for homeowners on treatment schedules and products to have a successful lawn.

    Q
Should Pro-Mate 20-0-10 Fertilizer with Barricade Pre-emergent be applied to a wet or dry lawn? What spreader setting is recommended?
    A

Pro-Mate 20-0-10 Fertilizer with Barricade Pre-emergent needs to be watered in immediately after the application with 0.5 inch of rainfall or irrigation to activate the granules and best results. Application rates are based on the specific turfgrass you have therefore refer to the product label for your turfgrass and application rates.

For spreader settings, due to the thousands of granules on the market and just as many different types of spreaders, you will want to calibrate your spreader to the product you are using and its application rates.

Please take a moment to watch our How to Calibrate your Spreader Video for instructions on how to do this.
