  • Asked by Priscilla from Elyria, Oh
    05/16/2018
    Q
What ingredient makes PT Alpine Flea and Bed Bug Aerosol unsafe to spray on cats?
The Vectra Pro spray used directly on cats has Dinotefuran .46% as its only active ingredient. Alpine PT Insecticide aerosol lists Dinotefuran .5% as its only active ingredient. So why is the Alpine PT unsafe to spray on the cat? Is The shelter (Friendship APL) cannot afford to treat 100 to 150 cats with topical flea treatments! Can the Alpine PT be sprayed in the cat's living area and dry for an hour or more while the cat is out of its living area? Will that work?
    A

PT Alpine Flea and Bed Bug Aerosol should NOT be applied when anyone is present (including the cats). Once the treated surfaces are completely dried, it will be safe for their return. The product is not labeled safe for applications on pets even if the active is the same as other products. The inert ingredients could be the reason it is unsafe as well as manufacturer testing results.

  • Asked by Joan from Anaheim, Ca
    09/21/2019
    Q
Is PT Alpine safe to use on black leather in a car?
    A

Alpine Flea & Bedbug Aerosol is not labeled for use in a car at all. If you are treating for bedbugs in a car we would recommend using something like Temprid Ready Spray in the cracks, crevices, folds and edges of seats. Do not spray areas where your body touches like directly on surfaces of seats or backs. To treat for fleas in a car, the main focus will be vacuuming everything thoroughly and then if you feel an insecticide is still needed, something like NyGuard Plus would be an option. Leather is not a surface the fleas would be able to inhabit/thrive within, mostly the carpet on the floor of the car. You can lightly spray the NyGuard Plus on those carpeted areas. If you feel any needs to be used on the seats you would need to test a small inconspicuous area first for color fastness and tolerance before treating on a wider scale.

    Q
How long after treatment is the product still effective for prevention from bed bugs?
I just had my home professionally fumigated for bed bugs. I want to begin a monthly regimen to ensure this doesn't occur ever again. Is this a good choice?
