    Q
Can I use Phantom inside concurrently with Termidor outside?
Is it OK to use these treatments at the same time, or should I treat with Termidor first and wait a certain amount of time before treating inside? Want to make sure I don't compromise efficacy of either product.
    A
You can indeed use Phantom Aerosol indoors while at the same time using Termidor SC outdoors. Both products are non-repellent and both products have a delayed reaction kill which means they will not interfere with each other.

    Q
I need an insecticide european hornets will take back to the nest and kill the queen
I have lots of european hornets at night at my windows. I was hoping at I could put a light out with a disk under it that the hornets would get on themselves and then take back to the nest. Is there such a thing? I tried Phantom but it seemed to kill too quickly as there were 20 dead hornets on the deck in the morning.
    A
There are no products on the market for European hornets like you have described. Phantom would be a pretty good choice but if you were not satisfied with the results from that product you could try Termidor SC. Termidor has a little bit more of a delayed reaction time and it has one of  the best transfer effects on the market.

    Q
Will this product if sprayed on the baseboards kill german roaches and others when they come out at night?
I have tried every product out there and these pests keep living more than a year in my home. Thank you.
    A
Phantom Aerosol is not an on-contact kill. The reason we like it to treat roaches is because the roaches travel through the treated areas and then transfer the active ingredient into the voids to the other roaches creating a domino killing effect. You could also check out Zenprox. It is a great aerosol to use as a flushing agent to get into the areas where the roach activity is and flush them out with an on contact kill.

    Q
How do I kill and control "sugar ants"?
Our vacation home is located near Chelan Washington on the Columbia River. Every spring we get hit with waves of what locals refer to as sugar ants. Very very small ants that get into anything that looks like a food source. Even had them get through screw top lids on 1 gallon plastic mayo jars used to store dog food. Currently I use boric acid powder sprinkled on their trail but I'm concerned about exposure to family dogs. Anything safer and better??
    A

Phantom would be a good choice for ant control. Phantom should be applied around baseboards, door frames, window frames and places where utilities (cables, pipes and wires) enter through the wall as these are the most likely places for the ants to enter/exit. You can also treat all around the foundation of your home and the exterior window frames, door frames and places where utilities enter to stop the ants from gaining access in the first place. Phantom is a non-repellent insecticide that has a delayed reaction which allows ants time to get back to the colony and spread the product. In essence, the ants will not be able to tell that the product is in place and they will pick it up on the fine hairs all over their body and inadvertently carry it back to the colony where over a course of a few days it will knock out the entire colony. Phantom works really well because you don't have to worry about whether the ants will all take the bait, they just need to walk over the treated areas. Phantom comes in two formulations, concentrated liquid and aerosol for your convenience. Be sure to keep your pets out of the area while you are treating and they can safely return to the treated areas as soon as they are dry, usually 1-2 hours.

    Q
Can I continue to steam where I've applied Phantom to get rid of bed bugs?
    A
You cannot steam where you applied Phantom because the heat will cause the residual to deteriorate. The residual from Phantom lasts approximately one month.

    Q
    Does Phantom Aerosol Smell Bad?
Does Phantom aerosol have a strong smell detectable by humans? If so how would it compare to Bedlam Plus, which has a bit of a lingering bug spray odor to me.
    A
The MSDS for Phantom does state that it has a strong odor, of acetone compared to the Bedlam Plus odor of a sweet solvent smell.   The smell from either the Phantom or Bedlam Plus should dissipate once the product dries which is typically 30 mins - 1 hour.

    Q
What would be best to use in/around a portable dishwasher in a kitchen with a mild German roach problem?
The portable dishwasher has a big block of cement at the bottom to keep it from tipping over when a tray full of dishes is brought out onto the open door. There is a space below where the door hinges from where I might be able to insert a tool to apply dust or spray. I don't know whether this space is open to the motor etc. If I put something like a "roach motel" in I would not expect to be able to retrieve it later. I would rather not use anything that is an attractant as I may not have roaches in there right now.
    A

We would recommend using Phantom Aerosol spray to help eliminate roaches around the dishwasher. Phantom Aerosol is not an on-contact kill. The reason we recommend this product treat roaches in these situations is because the roaches travel through the treated areas and then transfer the active ingredient into the voids to the other roaches, creating a domino killing effect.

    Q
How often do you use Phantom Aerosol when treating for bed bugs?
    A
Phantom Aerosol can only be sprayed every 30 days for bed bugs or any other pest. If you wanted to do a follow up treatment every 7-10 days between sprays of Phantom, you could use a spray like Bedlam Insecticide in the same areas. If treating for an active infestations-no matter how small or large- for bedbugs, please review our Bed Bug Kits and our Bed Bug Guide to make sure you are using the proper methods and treating in all areas of the home where they hide, to help you get rid of the problem faster. Please let us know if you have any questions.

    Q
We have wood-boring beetles in a few floor boards. Can Phantom Spray be used on the wood for spot treatment?
    A
We would not recommend Phantom Aerosol Spray to treat powder post beetles. You should use a wood treatment product to treat powder post beetles.  Bora-Care is the best wood treatment product available.  Bora-Care will penetrate through the wood and kill the larvae eating the wood no matter where they are in the wood.  However, it can only be applied to raw wood.  It cannot be applied to wood that is painted, stained, or sealed.  If your wood is painted, stained, or sealed, then you will need to drill holes and inject Bora-Care or sand the finish off of the wood, treat with Bora-Care, and then refinish the wood.  Please let us know if you have nay other questions.

    Q
Can I spray Phantom in bins with my stuff?
I am moving and I am packing all my items that cannot be put in the dryer in plastic storage containers. The PCO that my parents use gave us a can of Phantom, and I was going to spray my things with this and then seal the containers with duct tape. Also, can Nuvan/Hot Shot Pest Strips be used after the Phantom is sprayed? This is for bed bugs, by the way. I do not want them to come with me.
    A
Phantom should only be sprayed on the areas that are listed on the product label. Phantom should only be used in cracks and crevices around baseboards, door frames, window frames, around the edges of mattresses and boxsprings, etc. Phantom is not labeled to be sprayed all over personal items or as a space spray for your bins. Stick with the Nuvan strips for the sealed bins. Be sure to loosely pack items in the bin so that the vapor can circulate sufficiently.

  • Asked by Mari from Canoga Park California

    Q
Does Phantom II work for German roaches?
I sprayed with Phantom II five days ago for German roaches. I also put down glue traps and put Vendetta Plus gel in my upper cabinets. I am still seeing roaches on the wall and walking along carpets. Does activity increase when you spray and gel? When should I see a reduction in them? I keep a clean house but live in an apartment building.
    A

Phantom II Aerosol will start working immediately on the roaches that come into contact with any treated surfaces. It is not likely that you would see roach activity increase during treatment, but keep in mind that it is not a contact kill type of product, so they will not die as soon as they touch it. It will start to work on their system and they will start getting weaker and dying within a few hours of contact. The Vendetta Plus also contains a growth regulator (IGR) which will further help to control the population.  However, please keep in mind that roaches are difficult to control, so it will likely take more than 5 days to see full results.  Moderate roach infestations can take a few weeks to get rid of, and severe infestations can take several months even when using all of the products needed (insecticide, IGR, roach bait), and sanitation is up to par.

    Q
What products should I use for two different ants that I want to eliminate in my kitchen and bathroom?
In my kitchen and bathroom I have two different breeds of ants. One breed are very small, about 1/8th of an inch. The other are more typical, hearty black ants you see outdoors. I have used Terro powder and gel bait with limited success. What would you recommend?
    A

Phantom Aerosol would be a good choice for ant control indoors. Phantom is a non-repellent insecticide that has a delayed reaction which allows ants time to get back to the colony and spread the product. Q
I have Phantom, Gentrol and Temprid sc. What is a good schedule apply for bed bugs?
Can I spray all at once in same locations? Can they be mixed?
    A
Phantom Aerosol should only be used once every four weeks. Gentrol and Temprid should be mixed together in a pump sprayer and applied every 7-14 days. You should not apply the Phantom and the Gentrol/Temprid mix to the same locations as it is not needed. Phantom should be used in cracks and crevices at a maximum rate of 2 seconds of spray per linear foot and the Gentrol/Temprid mix should be applied to other areas of the room such as baseboards, window frames, door frames, bed frame, etc. Please read over our Bed Bug Treatment Guide for more information regarding bed bug treatments.

    Q
How long should I expect it to take to see results after using Phantom II Aerosol Spray?
After spraying and verifying that ants are coming in contact with it, how long can I expect until I start finding dead ants?
    A

You may not see dead ants immediately after applying Phantom II Aerosol Spray as it is a slow kill so it has time to be taken back to the colony and spread.  How long it will take to completely eliminate ants depends on the size of the colony you are treating and how many colonies you are treating.  You can reapply every 4 weeks but as long as they are contacting the treated area they will die and transfer it back.  You should start to notice a reduction in activity within a few days though.

  • Asked by Celia from Rio Rancho, New Mexico
    02/25/2014
    Q
Is there an effective way to eliminate ant colonies from inside walls?
Maxforce granules and gel have had limited effect. The ants disappear from inside the house for a short time only to return a few days later and in a different location. The ants initially entered the walls (by the billions) through cracks around exterior window frames. Now they're well established inside the walls of the house and they periodically come out into the interior of the house. As spring approaches we're going to have a real problem as the ants begin to swarm, forage for food, and look for water.
    A
Spray Phantom Insecticide indoors along the baseboards and near carpenter ant activity, and then use Termidor SC outside around the foundation of the home as was mentioned above. This will give you the best results for all types of ants.
