Be sure to perform a direct application to undesirable weeds and grasses and perform this application on a calm day without any wind.

    Q
Can Ranger Pro Herbicide be used on a clover food plot?
    A
Ranger Pro Herbicide will kill anything that is sprayed directly including grasses and clover. It is recommended that after you apply this product to wait 1-2 weeks before replanting in the treated area. We would recommend using Grass Out Max over clover plots. It will not harm the clover or deer.

Can I mix Ranger Pro with a pre emergent?
    A

We do not recommend mixing Ranger Pro and a pre-emergent together. Ranger Pro is a non selective post emergent herbicide and it will kill just about any type of vegetation that it is sprayed on so we would not advise for you to use on your lawn.

  • Asked by George from Spring Hill, Tn
    03/18/2016
    Q
    Will Ranger Pro kill Bamboo?
I know it kills the Japanese knotweed.
    A

Ranger Pro Herbicide could potentially kill bamboo but there are other products that would better target that plant like some of our Brush & Stump Killers. No matter what product you use when trying to control bamboo you need to cut the plant down level with the ground and then use the designated product undiluted to paint/pour directly on the freshly cut surface. Bamboo roots run very deep so often you have to do multiple applications with a product and repeat the cutting and painting phase a few times to fully kill the plant.

  • Asked by Mike from Jupiter, Fl

    Q
Will Ranger Pro Herbicide kill Pilea microphylla (Artillery Fern)?
I understand the active ingredient to kill artillery fern is Atrozine Glyphosate? This is a nuisance plant in my Florida yard not controlled by Roundup.
    A

Ranger Pro contains glyphosate only and is considered a generic Roundup product.  Glyphosate is an active that should kill anything that it is applied to.  Atrazine products are not actually labeled for this weed and there is not a product that has the 2 actives together.  We are not able to find any product actually labeled to control this weed but would recommend you contact your Master Gardener through your Extension Office for advice on what you could use that will not harm your lawn as well.

  • Asked by Roger from Murrells Inlet, South Carolina

    Q
Can I brush on full strength (41%) Glyphosphate on fresh cut Wax Myrtle stumps to kill it?
Have 3 wax myrtles with branches/stumps about 2 -4 inches in diameter. I want to cut them down and paint the fresh cut stumps with a full strength Glyphosphate Isopropylamine salt product to kill them and their roots which are ruining my yard. I live in South Carolina if that is a factor. If this will work, how many times will I ned to apply it and how often betwen applications? Thank you.
    A

You can use a Glyphosate product like Ranger Pro and paint on the stump full strength. It would also be advisable to drill into the stump or make cuts so that the stump will take up the product better.

  • Asked by Mitch from Scottsdale, Az
    04/22/2016
    Q
What can I use to get rid of bermuda grass longterm in my rock landscape?
I'm in Arizona with caliche hard pack. I have tried at least 4 different types of 'high end' herbicides 40-50% Glyphosate to kill the Bermuda growing over landscape rock. Everything looks dead in a week and then new growth pops up in the exact same area. Clearly using the existing root structure. Is there any chance of winning this war? I have no problem with a ground sterilization process if that's what it takes.
    A

Ground sterilization is likely going to be the best way for you to go. Pramitol 25E is a great soil sterilizer and will prevent bermuda grass as well as anything else from growing back for at least a year. Caution should be used during application as some leaching in the soil could occur and destroy nearby desirable vegetation and turfs. The Pramitol needs to be mixed at the rate of 8 ounces per each gallon of water at the lowest dilution and can be used up to 32 ounces per gallon for harder to kill brush. Time of plant death will depend on how much product is absorbed through the root system, if it is irrigate after application and if the plant is under any stress to cause it to not absorb the product as quickly. It could be days or weeks before complete death is visible in the weeds you are treating.

If you still want to use a roundup product, the best one on the market would be the Roundup QuikPro that is a 73.3% Glyphosate as well as an added bonus of 2.9% Diquat which gives extra burn down of weeds. It still wont prevent others from coming back but you will see quicker burn and kill of weeds with this version than the others on the market.

    Q
    Will Ranger Pro kill nutgrass?
I am installing a pool and have nutgrass. Looking for something to treat the soil with to kill nutgrass.
    A

Ranger Pro is a non selective insecticide that contains Glyphosate, the same active ingredient as roundup. Ranger Pro should kill any living vegetation you spray it directly on at the correct labeled rates, and since nutgrass is a little harder to control it would be recommended to use one of the higher rates during application.
