Retreating for roaches after eliminating them before with Advion Cockroach Gel Bait but not seeing dead roaches this time. Do you think the roaches have become resistant?

I had a pretty bad infestation and things have finally gotten under control. After laying down Advion Bait Gel I went through a 1-2 week period where I would see dead roaches laying everywhere. I stopped laying bait once I saw them not taking the bait and no more dead roaches. It's about one month later now and I've have started seeing 1-2 large roaches every couple days so I put the bait out again and I do see the bait is gone in the morning but I do not see any dead roach bodies. Do you think the roaches have become resistant? During my infestation I saw roaches of all sizes but the ones I've been seeing lately are only the large ones. Should I keep laying out the bait until I see the bait not being eaten, or should I try a different gel (Vendetta Plus?)?

Answer:

Not seeing dead roaches during a roach treatment program doesn’t necessarily mean the bait is not working, as long as they are consuming the bait you should continue to replace the bait placements.  When treating for active roaches, it is best use a combination of products as one product (bait or spray) typically is not going to eliminate the population or will take much longer. Bait aversion or resistance can develop in roaches if the same bait attractant is offered for a long period of time which is why we suggest reviewing our Roach Control Kits that offer 3 options for rotating during roach treatments.  These Roach Control Kits offer a complete treatment program with the top professional grade products and enough product for roughly 2-3 months of treatments. Retreatments need to be done every 14 days until you are not longer seeing roaches. If after 90 days, you are still seeing roach activity; rotate to one of the other kits to offer a different roach bait with a different bait attractant.   Please view our Roach Control KIts and quick tutorial in our How to Apply a Roach Control Kit Video for more information as well as our Roach Treatment Guide
