It would really depend on what you mean. There are no poisons on these Fly Ribbons, so toxins are not released into the environment. On the other hand, any insect (including beneficial ones) that land on the Fly Ribbons will be killed.
How do the Fly ribbons attract the flies?
Is there a scent, that if placed out of sight, maybe behind an object would it still be effective?
A
The Revenge Fly Ribbons contain a lure to attract flies to it. You want to put it somewhere where you are seeing the fly activity where it would not be blocked by anything that could prevent the flies from reaching it.
The Revenge Fly Ribbons are a sticky trap so anywhere they are hung outdoors would need to be in an area where they are protected from the outdoor elements, ie: covered porch, garage, etc.
How does the Revenge No Escape Fly Catcher Ribbons look once it's hung?
The ribbon doesn't straighten out, mine stay in a fairly tight spiral. This offers a pretty small surface are for the flies to land. Doesn't seem right but the instructions don't address this.

Because of the way the Revenge No Escape Fly Catcher Ribbons are wrapped to be packaged, they will have a spiral pattern when they’re first hung. In our experience, after a few days, the ribbons will start straightening up.
