    Q
Will pyrethrin kill bedbugs? What would you suggest?
    A
Pyrethrin products only kill bedbugs if you are able to spray the bug directly, and they have no residual control. There is no one product that is appropriate for every area in your home. We have put together Bedbug Kits that feature all of the different products that are required to eliminate bedbugs. Please take a few minutes to look through our bedbug kit page to find a kit that is the right size for your needs. We also recommend using mattress and box spring encasements to help eliminate a current infestation and make future bedbug inspection easier.

    Q
How long is the residual effect of Riptide 5.0% in a baseball field for mosquitoes?
    A
Riptide 5.0% will only kill mosquitoes while it is wet, but it also has a slight repellent quality that will help keep new mosquitoes away for up to a day. Having said that the product is not labeled as a repellent and should not be expected to work as a repellent.

    Q
Is Riptide 5.0% Pyrethrin ULV EPA approved to spray around boat marinas?
We have a pest control company spray once a month and only kill spiders. We need something to kill mosquitoes and flying insects.
    A
No. Riptide cannot be used around boat marinas. Riptide contains pyrethrins which is toxic to aquatic animals and cannot be used around the water. There is only one product on the market that can be used around bodies of water and that is Eco Exempt MC. Many boat marinas have started using this product in misting systems to keep the mosquitoes and gnats away. Please read through the Eco Exempt MC product label and supplemental label to see if this product will fit your needs.

    Q
Can I use Riptide 5.0% Pyrethrin ULV for fly control on cattle with a portable sprayer ?
The product is marketed for misting systems. I would like to try it in the field with a sprayer. Will that work ?
    A
According to the Riptide label you can use just a pump sprayer to treat cattle "To protect beef and dairy cattle and horses from Horn Flies, House Flies, Mosquitoes and Gnats, dilute 1 part concentrate with 49 parts water, mix well and apply a light mist sufficient to wet the tips of the hair. To control Stable Flies, Horse Flies and Deer Flies on animals apply 2 fluid ounces per adult animal, sufficient to wet the hair but not to soak the hide. Repeat treatment once or twice daily or at intervals to give continued protection."

    Q
What product do you recommend I use to control mosquitos and black fly? I live in the woods in Michigan.
What product do you recommend I use to control mosquitos and black fly. I live in the woods in Michigan. I use a Stihl SR420 Backpack Blower/Sprayer.
    A

For long lasting control of mosquitoes we recommend treating with Talstar P using a hand pump sprayer. Spray the underside of leaves of trees and bushes around your property and also treat door frames, window frames, and screens to stop the insects from coming indoors. Treat early morning or in the evening when the mosquitoes are most active for the best control. Riptide would only work well for quick control of flying insects but it does not offer a long lasting residual.
