SedgeHammer Herbicide Works!
By Virginia on 11/29/2019
It takes repeated applications to the nutsedge, but it does kill it. What's so great is that it doesn't affect other plants growing with the nutsedge. So you can spray the nutsedge freely and plentifully without worrying that nearby plants that also catch the spray will be killed. They show no sign of damage.

Slow Acting Herbicide
By Larry on 10/25/2019
I don't know if temperature was a factor in why the herbicide took so long to kill sedge grass. The directions implied the sedge should be dead in a week. It was in the mid 70's when I applied the product. It has now been 4-weeks and the plants are beginning to look dead. I did use the recommended surfactant. I plan to spray again in a week. It does seem to kill the grass just not as quickly as I thought it would.

Topical kill
By N on 09/07/2019
Applied Sedgehammer+ per instructions and applied entire gallon on small section of yard with purple sedge problem. 12 days later, the leaves of the nutsedge were gone. It didn't kill the bermuda grass around the nutsedge. Remains to be seen how much of the nutsedge re-emerges after 6 weeks.

Work's remarkably well on new RTF sod
By Lowell on 07/31/2020
I recently installed RTF sod and started to see some nut-grass coming up in a specific area, about 10'x10' and more aggressively on edges of the turf. Over the course of 3 weeks applied this product 2 times and like magic, just the nut-grass was killed. A single application did “yellow” greatly the nut-grass, but I felt a 2nd application was a good idea, especially given the RTF appeared to be unaffected following the 1st application. I also applied this to a mature turf with similar effectiveness. I purchased 1gallon packets, but wished smaller packaging was available as I used a 1quart hand sprayer on these very small areas.

SedgeHammer works effectively but results are slower than you hope for. Being patient and letting it do its work will be worth the wait. Another fact I was not aware of is this product will also kill other types of weeds. I've used it on my gravel driveway and it will take care of unwanted weeds. And of course it is safe for your lawn. Ordering from domyown.com was easy and delivery was very fast and the price was much cheaper than any other website I found.

finally a safe treatment that does not kill my bermuda
By Mc on 08/09/2018
I have used Sedgehammer twice and it killed the nutsedge and did not kill my grass! Yay! I have tried other products, following their instructions, and yes it killed the nutsdege but also my Bermuda sod ... grrrr. Who wants big dead spots in their front yard? not me Sedgehammer is easy to use, its already got the surfactant included in the pouch mix. The only downside to Sedgehammer is it seems to degrade quickly so I either have to use it all that day or its wasted. I definitely think its effective and since nutsedge is relentless, I'll continue to use it.

Better than the rest ! It does seem to work !
By Coastal on 09/18/2020
Like most home owners that have tried to beat the nut grass curse I tried everything that Home Depot carried with absolutely no success. A landscaper suggested I try Sledge Hammer. I followed the application directions and I was pleasantly surprised that it seems to work! It's been three weeks now and a couple of the more stubborn weeds will need a second application but this product is far better than anything else I have tried.

It works, but be patient.
By Russ on 06/17/2022
I'm into my second week of "being patient" and finally seeing results. The nut sedge is a tough invasive grass to kill. Tried other herbicides but nothing seemed to work until now, Sedge Hammer appears to be doing the job, 4 stars for now, if it permanently takes them out I'll give it 5 stars. Russ

I have been using Sledgehammer since it's introduction. When it works it is great. Following the instructions to the letter is a given. Leaf growth stage is very important. That said results vary for reasons unknown. I think that there is a threshold of how many nutlets you can give a fatal dose. Sometimes there are a lot of nuts other times just ryhzomes and tiny roots.

Seems to be working
By Billy on 08/01/2016
I had purchased 2 packets of this herbicide, because 1 packet only makes a gallon. I liked the idea that this packet already had the surfactant in it. So after 2 weeks i can already tell a big difference. I mainly concentrated on my front yard and spot sprayed the back. I purchased 3 more packets to do the back yard and heavy spot the front. So far it seems to be working good.

SedgeHammer Herbicide
By Djs on 05/31/2012
Something like this herbicide, that takes weeks to show results can't be rated completly in 3 weeks. So I am being optimistic by giving it a 4 star rating at this time. I used this product about 3 weeks ago on my 1 1/2 acre yard that in the last 2 years was getting really infested with nut grass. Now most of the nut grass has a yellow tint but is not totally dead, but the nut grass has not grown any new leaves yet. The big question in whether the herbicide will kill the nut seed and will not come back later or next spring. If the nut grass does not come back from these seeds next spring, SedgeHammer may be worth the ridiculous price they charge for it to me. Next spring I can better answer this and give a more intelligent opinion and review.
