    Goodbye Nutsedge

    By Joe on 08/05/2022

Use as directed, shake up solution often. Results were visible in less than 10 days. The stuff is really dying or dead and going away. I am glad I bought more than 1 packet, because I found some other spots of nutsedge around the yard and my neighbor wants spray some in his yard too. Manufacturer's You Tube video was very helpful.

    sedgehammer use for nutsedge

    By Ann on 08/05/2022

This product seems to be slow in killing the nutsedge. I've had to use more than one treatment. I'm treating individual small nutsedges because its in a flower bed with new hedges, also new sod surrounding it which I have not used it on. I'm hoping I can get rid of it. Replacing dirt is risky and expensive.

    Expert Response  Expert response:
Sedgehammer will take about 2-4 weeks to show results on nutsedge, too, so you will need to be a little patient when treating for this weed and it may require repeat treatments as directed on the label.

    Product did not work effectively

    By Dave on 08/19/2022

I used this and also used another type from Lowes which you distribute with a hose. For some reason, this product was perhaps a 2 our of ten.. the other product was an 8 our of ten

    Expert Response  Expert response:
We apologize you did not achieve the intended results. Some weeds may require repeat treatment as directed on the label. We would welcome the opportunity to troubleshoot the application to help get you the results you need. Please contact us at your earliest convenience!

    SledgeHammer for nut grass

    By Jim on 08/20/2022

This product seems to be working well. It is not a miracle cure, as it is taking multiple applications. My goal is to get it under control and hopefully next year I will not see it return.

    GREAT STUFF!

    By Terry on 09/05/2022

My yard was taken over by sedge weed. Sedgehammer knocked it out. My first application took out the majority of the weeds. By the second application, it was just a matter of getting the ones that were missed on the first. Took about 3 weeks per application to eliminate but was seeing results in 1 week after application. Easy instructions and use.

    Not Much Effect

    By Robert on 09/17/2022

Applied Sedgehammer to sedge weeds in my yard with a pump sprayer. I didnt want to apply Roundup since it would destroy the surrounding fescue grass. Sedgehammer didnt have much effect on the weeds. Ended up spraying with Roundup. Not sure why it didnt work better. Might work better in the wet spring than the dry fall.

    It works well!

    By Steve on 09/29/2022

We've used SedgeHammer for years on nutsedge that reappears in different spots in our lawn. It's effective, and the leaves turn yellow and die within a week to 10 days or so. Be patient.

    Lawn wasn't harmed

    By Randall on 10/06/2022

The first treatment yellowed the nutsedge but required a second application to kill it. My lawn was not harmed though.

    Sedgehammer

    By Ginger on 05/12/2023

I am so thrilled to have found this product! I had tried another product and never saw any results. I ran across SedgeHammer online and started reading all the comments. Some folks had results, some didn't. So I ordered 2 packets and tried it out. It's so easy to mix with one gallon of water and my husband got me a hand pump sprayer. I can do it myself! So, I tried it on a small portion of the yard just in case it killed the grass. I saw results one and half weeks later. Even after some hard rains the product kept working! (a lot of flooding in South Florida this past April). Only the sedge started turning yellow. The grass, St. Augustine, wasn't fazed by it. We took back taking care of our yard the end of last year. TruGreen admitted they couldn't get rid of the Sedge so we cancelled the contract with them. So, my retirement project is the lawn. We just take our time doing lawn and hedge maintenance. I ordered a case of the SedgeHammer and can use as needed. I am a believer in this product and have spread the word. I hope other folks get the same results.

It's raining so often here it's hard to say

    By John on 06/23/2023

I sprayed yesterday around noon. It started raining about 6pm and by morning we've had 1.5 inches of rain. I'm concerned about the shelf life of unused product.

    It worked!

    By Jim on 06/28/2023

Using SH late last summer, it made a huge dent in my nutsedge. I used it on my neighbor's front yard as well which was really inundated. It worked so well, he went out and bought it to use in his very large backyard with excellent results. This spring, the new crop was minimal, and with another treatment, it has (for the most part) died off. Still a little out there, but not worth mixing up a new batch. Definitely buy the 40 gallon container.

    Looks to have worked well

    By Ryan on 06/30/2023

Got the product, put it down on a Sunday, cut grass on Friday, all the sedge is or is turning yellow and dieing off. Hopefully just need a single dose, but it's looking good so far

    Long time professional user

    By Don on 07/13/2023

I have been using Sledgehammer since it's introduction. When it works it is great. Following the instructions to the letter is a given. Leaf growth stage is very important. That said results vary for reasons unknown. I think that there is a threshold of how many nutlets you can give a fatal dose. Sometimes there are a lot of nuts other times just ryhzomes and tiny roots.

    Great product

    By Brandt on 07/26/2023

I applied the product per the directions and it has worked as advertised. I'm currently 10-14 days out from application and the nutsedge is pale yellow and dying while my St Augustine is unchanged.

    Not working

    By Tammy on 07/31/2023

Been using this since 2020 every year and each year it came back more agressive. I cannot get rid of this grass

    Expert Response  Expert response:
It's possible you are dealing with a resistance issue if you have been using Sedgehammer repeatedly over the last few years to treat nutsedge, it can also take 6-10 weeks to show results and may require repeat treatments. To prevent this it is recommended to rotate herbicides, products with Sulfentrazone would be great for early applications and actually has some pre-emergent properties. https://www.domyown.com/sulfentrazone-c-114_1219.html
