To avoid undesired apple thinning delay use until at least 30 days after full bloom. If there is insect activity then you typically only need to retreat every 7-14 days. Be sure to wait at least 3 days between the last application of Sevin Concentrate and harvesting the apples.

  • Asked by Jack from Fresno
    09/15/2016
    Q
Is Sevin Concentrate that was mixed with water and sitting for a few months still good?
Says not to use on anything flowering as it will kill bees in large numbers. All these here say will not harm bees and that you can use on veggies. Not mine? I have an old green plastic container of Sevin, why don't I see my bottle for sale here?
    A

Sevin Concentrate should be used within 24 hours of mixing with water.  The only green labeled Sevin we carry is the professional grade PROKoZ Sevin SL Carbaryl Insecticide, if this is not the one you have we cannot comment on the use of it or precautions but the PROKoZ states on the label: BEE CAUTION: MAY KILL HONEYBEES IN SUBSTANTIAL NUMBERS.

  • Asked by Dan from Conway, Sc
    06/21/2017
    Q
Will Sevin eliminate or control scaling insect on magnolia trees?
    A

Sevin Concentrate is not labeled to be used on trees with a height of 10 feet or more. Adonis 2F Insecticide/Termiticide which conains Imidacloprid would be a better product to use.  You would use .1 to .2 oz per inch of trunk diameter.  It can take up to 8 weeks for the product to completely translocate through the tree so timing is key.  Application timing of systemics is very important and it varies from region to region. We recommend you contact your local cooperative extension office and speak to the master gardener on staff as he or she will be able to give you the most accurate information in regards to application timing.

For foliar sprays now Talstar P would be a good product to use.
