Is Sevin concentrate is safe for pigeon peas.
I spray my pigeon peas about 1 wk ago and their leaves are turning yellow and falling.

To our knowledge, there is no reason Sevin Concentrate would have turned the leaves yellow, unless another product was also applied to the pigeon peas. Please contact GardenTech 866-945-5033 to help further advise you on their product.

  • Asked by Lillian from Kamuela, Hawaii
    08/09/2013
    Q
Is Sevin effective in controlling / killing mosquitoes?
    A
We do not recommend Sevin for mosquito control as it does not last very long. Talstar is our most popular selling product for mosquito control.  It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water and apply using a sprayer.  You will need about 1 oz of product for every 1,000 sq ft of space you need to treat. The key is to apply it to all shrubs, trees, and other foliage around the house or patio where you are trying to provide relief.  It should be directed not only on top of the leaves and plants, but on the underside of the leaves as well which is where the mosquitoes hang out.  Talstar should be applied every 30 days for optimum control.

  • Asked by Bryan from Des Moines, Iowa
    07/28/2013
    Q
Do I broadcast the Sevin Concentrate or spray only plants in large field?
I have 6 acres of newly planted strawberries. When they say 2qts/acre, does that mean I use a boom sprayer (spray the whole field) or is that rate for just spraying the rows of plants. Also, how much water with the 2 qts of Sevin per acre?
    A

Per page 8 of the product label you would need to mix 3.0 fl. oz. of product per gallon of water and spray upper and lower leaf surfaces and between fruit clusters and on small limbs and trunks
to the point of runoff where pest appear.  Repeat applications as necessary up to a total of  five times per year for small fruits, but not more often than once every seven days.

We cannot find anything on the product label that mentions the 2 qt/acre application so we are unsure where that information came from.

  • Asked by Mac from St. Louis, Mo
    06/30/2013
    Q
Is it okay to spray Sevin on flowers even if we have beehives?
    A
Sevin is not a selective insecticide and it will kill bees that come into contact with treated areas. Mavrik Permieter spray may be a better choice for you. Mavrik Perimeter is for outdoor use and is known for its immediate control of a variety of insects including mosquitoes, ants, spiders, ticks, springtails, cockroaches and fire ants. With Mavrik Perimeter there is no lingering odor or visible residue and when dry it is non toxic and non repellent to honey bees. It is important to only spray when the bees are not actually foraging in the area.
