Should I wait for the leaves to fall before I treat for borers with Bonide Systemic Insect Control?

Borers on my ash tree. Diameter is 9 in. At 4.5 ft. From the ground. How many ounces per gallon should I use? And will it kill my grass?

Bonide Systemic Insect Control should be applied as directed when the targeted pest is first noticed and actively feeding. The product is applied as a foliar application at 1-2 oz per gallon.
