Should I wash my Protect-a-bed mattress cover before use?

Hello, I am ordering two covers (one for box spring) as I do not have an infestation but do not want one. I was wondering why it is recommended to wash the covers prior to use for best results? What does "best results" mean? I have to go to a laundromat and of course worry that I'll somehow bring something home with me, so having to wash the covers just increases that chance. Thanks for answers and any advice. Also, if you know whether the SleepTite EPA exempt spray is effective, could you let me know? Thank you so much.

Answer:

The Bed Bug Mattress Covers do not have to be washed before you use them.  90% of our customers do not wash them before they place them on their beds.  Washing the covers does soften them a little bit since when you first take them out of their packaging they can be a little rough to the touch.  This is usually never an issue though once it is on your bed and you have a sheet over it.  Almost all of our office staff has a cover on their bed at home and none of us have washed it before initial use.  I am not familiar with SleepTite EPA exempt spray because we only sell professional products.  It seems that it is similar though to our Steri-Fab spray, which kills all stages of bed bugs, even the eggs.
