    The Siesta Insecticide Fire Ant Bait is safe to use around dogs and cats, they just need to be out of the area while the application is being made.

    How often do I need to apply?

    Siesta Insecticide Fire Ant Bait should be applied in the early morning or late afternoon
    when ants are most active for best results. Ants are most active when temperatures are above 60° F. You should make no more than four applications per year. The product label suggests an application of no more than 1.5lbs per acre.

    Does Siesta act as a bait that is carried back to the Queen?
    Instructions do not address eradicating a nest area.

    Siesta Insecticide Fire Ant Bait is a bait and will be taken back to the nest and transferred throughout the colony. Siesta is recommended to be applied when temperatures are above 60 degrees in the early morning or late afternoon. This is when ants are the most active. Applications should be avoided in wet conditions or when rain or irrigation is expected within 12 hours.

    Can I use Siesta Insecticide Fire Ant Bait on my vegetable garden?

    No, Siesta Fire Ant Bait is not labeled to be used around edibles. Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait can be used around the vegetable garden but not in it.

    Can Siesta Insecticide Fire Ant Bait be used in horse pastures?

    Siesta Insecticide Fire Ant Bait can only be used in non-grazed areas per the product label. Extinguish Plus would be a better option as it can be used where companion animals such as horses.

    Could Siesta Fire Ant Bait accidentally attract birds?
    After spraying lawn- noticed numerous Doves feeding in grass. Suspect they are eating my Siesta?? Thank you in advance for you prompt response.

    Siesta Insecticide Fire Ant Bait is formulated from soybean oil and corn grit so might be slightly attractive to birds, but they would have to eat their body weight or more to be affected.  The active ingredient is only enough to harm a small fire ant.

    Can Siesta Insecticide Fire Ant Bait be used near fruit trees?
    I have several small fruit trees on my property that has become inundated with fire ants. Can I use this product without contaminating my fruit?

    No, Siesta Fire Ant Bait is not labeled for use around edibles. Extinguish Fire Ant Bait is a food product that the ants will be attracted to.  Unfortunately there is not a fire ant product that is labeled for use on or very near fruit bearing trees.

    Can Siesta Insecticide Fire Ant Bait be used in a yard where animals and children play?

    We would recommend children be kept away from areas treated with Siesta Insecticide Fire Ant Bait while you are applying and for about an hour after.
