    Q
can Snapshot be safely applied to established Centipede lawns ?
    A
Snapshot should not be applied to turf grasses. Snapshot is meant to be used in landscape beds and around trees. Xl 2G may better suit your needs as it is labeled for use on centipede grass. Be sure to review the product label to make sure the weeds you are trying to control are listed.

  • Asked by Susan from Warsaw Oh
    05/29/2017
    Q
Why can't I use Snapshot 2.5 TG in a vegetable garden?
Does it harm the plant? Or make them unsafe to consume?
    A

Snapshot 2.5 TG - 50 lbs. is not labeled to be used around anything edible and products must be used according to the product label.  Applying in this area would make any edibles unconsumable.  Monterey Vegetable & Ornamental Weeder or Hi-Yield Herbicide Granules are 2 pre-emergent products we do carry labeled for use around the listed vegetables the respective product labels.

  • Asked by Bud from Thomasville, Nc 27360
    03/31/2013
    Q
What setting should I use for my hand spreader for Snapshot?
    A

In general you will use 2.3 - 4.6 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft. First you should determine which usage rate is needed for your use by reading the product label.

Here is how to determine what spreader setting is needed for your spreader:

If you need to use 3lbs of product per 1,000 sq ft you would  add 3 lb of product to spreader, start with a medium setting, then apply product to a 20 x 50 ft area (1,000 sq ft).  If you have product left, your setting is too low.  If you run out of product, your setting is too high.  Typically if you walk at a normal pace and set the spreader at the middle setting, that is usually the right amount per 1000 square feet.

    Q
Will Snapshot damage turf along edges of ornamental beds?
    A

Snapshot 2.5 TG - 50 lbs. would not harm the grass, it is just not labeled to be applied directly to turfgrass so could not be used in the actual lawn.  The small amount that could get into the edges would not affect the grass itself.

  • Asked by Joan from Sperryville
    05/15/2017
    Q
How long after applying Snapshot do I need to wait to plant seeds for annuals and ornamentals?
    A

Since Snapshot 2.5 TG is a pre-emergent, meaning that it prevents seeds from germinating, you should not plant any seeds you want to grow and germinate for at least 4 to 6 months after applying Snapshot, since it will prevent them from growing during this time.

  • Asked by Steve from Bainbridge
    02/01/2018
    Q
At what ground temperature can I apply Snapshot 2.5 TG?
    A

You can apply Snapshot to established ornamentals as listed on the product label as long as the ground is not frozen and there is not snow on the ground. You want to apply pre-emergents before your target weed seeds germinate. Crabgrass seeds germinate when the soil temperature is around 55 degrees, but this threshold is higher for other weeds. You can also choose to do split applications in Spring as long as you do not reapply at the higher rate before 60 days, and you do not exceed the annual maximum rate of 600 lb per Acre, per the product label.

    Q
Is it safe to apply Snapshot to a new unplanted landscape bed prior to planting new perennials/shrubs/annuals?
The bed is new and I am wanting to apply a preemergent before planting. Do you have any suggestions how to safely do this in a new landscape bed?
    A

Snapshot 2.5 TG would be best applied after you have planted so that the soil is not disturbed and the barrier removed while you are planting.  . Apply Snapshot 2.5 TG anytime prior to germination of target weeds, or immediately after cultivatition

    Q
Is Snapshot 2.5 TG safe for birds? I have several species of birds that eat in my flower beds.
Last year after using Snap shot on my flower beds I noticed 4 dead male cardinals throughout the season.
    A

Snapshot 2.5 TG is safe around birds when used as directed on the product label.  It is best applied when they are not in the area and should be watered in immediately after application to avoid them ingesting any of the granules.  If you have more concerns, you may want to speak with the manufacturer directly at 317-337-3000.

  • Asked by Mike

    Q
What does the TG stand for in Snapshot 2.5 TG - 50 lbs.?
    A

According to our Rep with Dow Agro, there is not any difference besides the package size and the coloring of the granule. The SnapShot 2.5 TG is a yellow color granule and comes in a 50lb bag. The Snapshot 2.5 DG is a brown color and comes in a 25lb bag. The application and active ingredients are both the same. They make the 2 different types due to some Turf Pros not wanting a yellow granule and prefer the brown granule.

  • Asked by Mark from Athens, Al
    12/24/2015
    Q
Can Snapshot 2.5 TG be used around roses?
    A

Roses are not specifically listed as plants that have been tested as tolerant of Snapshot 2.5 TG. However, this pre-emergent is designed for use around established landscape ornamentals, so if the plants are well-established and healthy, Snapshot should not damage them. If you have a large area of rosebushes and are not sure of their health, then you may want to use the product around a small number of plants first to test tolerance. Be sure to follow the label rates and application instructions on the product label.

    Q
I need a selective herbicide that won't kill my Asiatic jasmine.
    A
Snapshot 2.5 TG would be a good choice for a broad spectrum pre-emergent around Asiatic Jasmine. Fusilade II should be used if you need a broad spectrum post-emergent selective herbicide.
