There are a few different things that could be causing the damage to your lawn including fungus, insects or just general need of nutrients and boosts in the summer heat. If you dont know for certain what you have you may want to take an entire soil and grass sample to a local cooperative extension office or master gardener in your area to see if they can help you specifically identify what you have going on that could be affecting your lawn.
