  • Asked by Marc from Jacksonville, Fl
    01/12/2016
    Q
Can I used Speedzone Southern Herbicide during winter here in Northeast Florida, or should I wait until early Spring?
    A

Speedzone Southern Herbicide is a post emergent herbicide which means it should only be applied to weeds that are actively growing and when soil temperatures are above 60-65 degrees. As long as the weeds are actively growing and have not entered the dormant state then you should see results with the product if you choose to apply it now. Otherwise you would want to wait until it warms up more in the Spring.

    Q
Is the gallon size Speedzone in concentrate form or ready to use? What is the coverage area?
I have either lespedoza or creeping beggarweed and lots of it. When should I use this product?
    A
Most all of the professional herbicides we sell come in a concentrate form and Speedzone Southern is no different.  You should apply about .55 to 2 ounces per 1000 square feet depending on what type of grass you have.  As far as when you should apply the product, it can be applied anytime that you see the weeds you would like to control.

Will spraying Speedzone around freshly planted citrus trees contaminate the fruit?
    A

Per the Speedzone Souther Herbicide Product Label: Suceptible Plants- Do not apply under circumstances where spray drift may occur to food, forage or other plantings that may be damaged or crops used for consumption.

  • Asked by Deepak from Grapevine, Tx

    Q
My St Augustine lawn is overrun with Oxalis weeds. What is the best pre and post emergent herbicide?
The above problem is particularly prevalent in shaded areas where the grass is relatively weak. How good is Speedzone southern versus something like Trimex Southern?
    A
In order for us to find a specific product for you, can you please tell us if your St Augustine lawn is Floratam or Bitterblue? These two particular species of turf are extremely sensitive and the products that can be safely used on these versions of St Agustine are going to be very limited. We do not want to recommend the wrong product to you that might hurt your lawn while it kills the oxalis. Also do you know about how much area you are trying to cover? Once we have this information we can better give you the best recommendation.

    A

You may reseed areas treated with SpeedZone Southern Herbicide 1 week after treatment, per the product label. If you are planning to lay fresh sod, then we would recommend waiting until treated plants have died and been removed from the treated area before laying fresh sod. Be sure you are using the correct rates for your turfgrass.
