    Q
Can you spray Talstar P in a vegetable garden and on flowers?
    A
Talstar P can be used on flowers. While Talstar P is known to be gentle we still recommend that you test 1 or 2 plants before spraying all of them.  Talstar P cannot be used on edible vegetation of any kind. We do carry a full line of products that can be used on edible plants: Edible Garden Products

    Q
Can Talstar EZ Granular be spread where vegetables are grown?
I had an exterminator over to control ants, and she distributed the Talstar EZ Granulars at the base of my vegetable garden. Is that going to be a problem when I grow vegetables in the same dirt next season? Has it made the dirt toxic? Please advise...Thanks!
    A
You should not use Talstar in a vegetable garden. Talstar EZ granules will breakdown in the soil after several months, so your garden plot should be fine to use next spring. If you are worried the soil may be contaminated still, you can also remove the first few inches of soil and replace it with fresh soil.

    Q
I need spreader settings for Talstar EZ Granules using a Scott Acura Green 1000 drop spreader.
    A

We don't have the exact spreader setting for your model spreader. The easiest way to determine the correct setting for you needs is outlined below:

If you need to use 3lbs of product per 1,00 sq ft you would  add 3 lb of product to spreader, start with a medium setting, then apply product to a 20 x 50 ft area (1,000 sq ft).  If you have product left, your setting is too low.  If you run out of product, your setting is too high

    Q
When should I apply Talstar EZ Insecticide for mole crickets?
Do you have something of a more specific time of year to apply? I read the label, but its too vague for me. I'm trying to control mole crickets, and need to know what months to apply.
    A
The Talstar EZ product label is a bit vague when it comes to application timing because the timing will vary greatly from one region of the country to another. You should contact your local cooperative extension office and speak to the master gardener on staff to inquire about the best time to apply products for mole cricket control in your area.

    Q
How long is an application of Talstar EZ effective against ticks?
Deer frequently enter our backyard and re-introduce ticks. How long will a single application last before I have to re-apply? Also, is this product effective against chiggers?
    A
The manufacturer is a little vague about how long an application of Talstar EZ might last for tick control because of the complicated life cycle of some ticks. In general you may want to reapply Talstar EZ every month during the tick season. Talstar EZ is not labeled for chiggers. In fact we cannot find any granules that are labeled for chiggers. We do carry several liquid concentrates that are labeled for both ticks and chiggers such as Demand CS, Talstar P and Tempo SC Ultra.

    Q
Will Talstar EZ take care of grubs in the lawn and/or planting areas?
    A
No. Talstar EZ is not labeled for grubs. Talstar EZ is formulated with a synthetic pyrethroid active ingredient called bifenthrin. Bifenthrin binds too readily with the soil and cannot penetrate deeply enough to be effective for grubs. We recommend Merit granules for treatment of grubs in your yard.

    Q
Fire ant mound near blueberry bush, can I use Talstar EZ Granular Insecticide to kill the mound?
Very large fire ant mound right near a small blueberry bush. Can I use Talstar to kill the mound?
    A
The Talstar EZ Granules have been discontinued by the manufacturer and replaced with the Talstar Xtra Granules. They should NOT be applied near edible shrubs. We do not carry a fire ant bait that is labeled for use around vegetable gardens or fruit.  However, you can use the fire ant bait in the vicinity if it is placed in ant bait stations, such as our ant cafe refillable bait stations.

    Q
Our water comes from a well in our yard. Will this be an issue when applying Talstar EZ as you said it could be highly toxic in water?
    A

Talstar EZ Granular Insecticide is not labeled to be used near bodies of water where aquatic life would be as it is highly toxic to them.  You can use well water to water the product in after application.
