    Q
How many gallons will you need to pre treat a 2000 sq ft with Talsar P?
    I need pre treat 180 liner feet... 50 + 50+ 40+ 40+ 180 liner feet
    A
Per the Talstar P product label for pre construction you would use 1 oz per gallon of water per 10 square feet, but Talstar is not the best product to use for this.  Termidor SC is the #1 termite product on the market. When used as an in-ground barrier treatment, Termidor SC will protect your home or business for over 10 years. Termidor SC is completely undetectable by termites and once termites touch it they contact, ingest and spread the termiticide until it eliminates the entire colony. Termidor SC controls all types of termites including subterranean, formosan, and drywood termites. Talstar P lasts for about 5 years in the ground and works as a repellent, killing only those insects that come into contact with the treated area.

    Q
Does Talstar work as effectively for knockdown as Tempo Ultra using a Stihl blower/mister for mosquitos?
    A
Talstar can be used in a mist blower for mosquito control outdoors. It will not be an instant knockdown kill but offers a 30 day exterior residual. It is also one of our most popular mosquito control insecticides. It is mixed at one ounce per gallon of water. Tempo SC Ultra is also a synthetic pyrethroid concentrate that is great for mosquitoes and other listed pests.

    Q
Can Talstar P be improved with a synergist for mosquitos and ticks?
    A
Yes, you can add a synergist like ExciteR to Talstar. ExciteR Insecticide with piperonyl butoxide (PBO) was designed with a pyrethroid pesticide to amplify the efficacy on pest insects. You would mix 1 oz Talstar with 2 oz Exciter into 1 gallon water.

    Q
I have been using Tempo for mosquito control. How does Talstar compare to tempo or basically which is better?
Also does Talstar wash off after a rain and do you recommend using to help the product stick or become more residual?
    A
Both Talstar and Tempo are great products. Talstar P (Talstar One) does provide and quick knockdown and can be applied to many different areas. Tempo allows for a powder formulation with even dispersal of a powder. Both products have different manufacturers. There is no real way to make a product have a longer residual. You can mix in ExciteR which will increase the quickness and intensify the kill.

    Q
    Will Talstar kill the geckos?
I don't want to kill the geckos just the Mosquitos will this work?
    A
If the lizards are sprayed directly with the Talstar P it may cause them harm. If they travel over dried deposits of the Talstar P it would be less likely to cause any issues.

  • Asked by Karen from Odessa, Fl

    Q
What is the best treatment for noseeums?
I live in Florida on a lake with a wooded lot next door. I can't go outside for more than 5 minutes without being bitten by noseeums and coming in with itchy welts on my legs and arms. Willing to try anything to get rid of them. My extension office said that there wasn't anything which will get rid of noseeums/midges. Is this true? If you have a product or products which work, i am willing to try them. I love the outdoors but it does not love me back!
    A

The breeding sites for these flies are so numerous and varied, it is impossible to eliminate them all. These tiny pests are small enough to crawl through the average window screen and fit through cracks and crevices around windows and door frames.

You can help prevent these flies from entering your home by spraying a barrier application of Talstar P paying special attention to window frames, window screens, door frames, and cracks and crevices that may be used as points of entry.  A screen with a very fine mesh (smaller than 16mesh) will help prevent entry. Additionally, it may be helpful to keep ceiling fans and window fans on at high speeds to keep insects out of small areas.

If flies have already entered your home and you need immediate control use Microcare. This product offers a fast knockdown and kill of flying insects, giving you immediate relief.

    Q
Is Talstar, sprayed from a backpack mister, effective on cankerworms?
    A

Talstar is not labeled for cankerworms.  The most widely recommended product to use for cankerworms is Bacillus thuringiensis, or B.t.  A product like Monterey B.t. Insecticide may be a better option for you.  There is a great article here on the treatment and prevention of cankerworms.

Can I mix Talstar P with a weed killer?

    Q
I accidentally mixed 2 oz of Talstar to 1 gallon of water. Will that make the product less effective?
    A

It should not harm anything to apply Talstar at this rate one time. We recommend that you wait for 30 days outside (90 days inside) to reapply at the rate of 0.5-1 oz per gallon of water.

  • Asked by James from Wayne, Il
    05/31/2018
    Q
On a Stihl backpack blower, what meter setting is best to use to apply Talstar for mosquitoes?
    A

As long as you are using the Talstar P at the proper dilution rate in the tank, the metering rate would just be dependent on how quickly you are walking during application.  Unfortunatley, we do not carry Stihl blowers so we cannot give you an exact answer.  However, we can thell you that with our Solo 451 blower, we suggest a metereing rate of 2 (from a range of 1-4) for a normal pace during application.  For most applications, you will mix 0.5-1 oz per gallon per 1,000 sq ft.

  • Asked by Scott from Frenchtown
    06/18/2018
    Q
What spray product would you recommend to kill and or repel mosquitoes without harming honey bees?
    A

A broad-spectrum insecticide such as Talstar P could potentially kill bees if they are sprayed directly or if they contact the treated areas. For this reason, we do not recommend spraying residual insecticides on flowering plants, and we recommend spraying in the morning or evening when pollinators are less active. There is a product called Mavrik Perimeter which is non-toxic and non-repellent to honey bees once dry. Another option would be to use a repellent such as Mosquito Barrier which is only a repellent once dry.

    Q
What type of face mask can I use to apply Talstar P.
    A

A mask is not required to apply Talstar P if you are applying in a well-venitlated area.  If you are applying in a small, confined space with poor ventilation, you can use something like the N95 Valved Respirator Mask.  Please be advised that we are only able to ship within the U.S. at this time.
