    Q
My car is infested with stink bugs. How should I use Talstar P on a vehicle?
    A
Talstar P is not really specifically labeled for treatment in cars.  You cannot apply the product to any seats or anywhere that you come into contact with.  You could only apply it to cracks and crevices and under seats.  We feel that an aerosol can would be easier to apply to a car and just as effective.  We would recommend D-Force HPX Aerosol and apply it to the same areas.

    Q
Can I use Talstar on elm trees as a systemic?
    A
Talstar P is a synthetic pyrethroid and as such will not work as a systemic treatment. You will need to use a product such as Criterion which is a systemic insecticide to treat your elm trees.

    Q
Will Talstar P kill Pentatomidae NOW???
    A
Pentatomidae aka stink bugs can be killed by Talstar now or any other time they are present. However, if they are indoors right now you will only see limited results because stinkbugs hide in areas that are usually inaccessible which means only once they come out of hiding and cross over a treated area will they be killed. Outdoors you can spray all of the areas where they are active (except edible vegetation). Once stink bugs cross over treated areas they will die within a couple of hours in most cases.

    Q
What product would you recommend for crickets and spiders? Fruit flies/gnats and pantry moths?
I would like to kill the crickets and spiders in my garage/basement. Also, want to set up a long lasting barrier or something that will kill them and keep them from coming in.
    A
You mentioned four very different pests in your question. Spiders and crickets can be controlled using Talstar P. Talstar P is a great general use insecticide that can be applied indoors and outdoors to help get rid of and prevent most crawling insects. Fruit flies and pantry moths on the other hand will require you to locate the source of the infestation to get rid of the pests. We do have fruit fly traps as well as pantry moth traps but these traps are meant for monitoring purposes and will not get rid of the entire infestation. You can learn more about fruit fly control by reading our Fruit Fly Control Articles and Pantry moths by reading our Pantry Moth Control Articles. These articles will help you learn how to find and eliminate the infestation.

    Q
I purchased Talstar P liquid, will this be effective for a tick infestation?
Not sure if ticks, but think it is - at first thought bird mites.
    A

Talstar P is one of our most popular selling products for ticks and is what we usually recommend.  It would not be recommended for bird mites, as as it is pretty specific to the types of mites it controls. We recommend that you add Archer IGR ( insect growth regulator) to the Talstar P.

    Q
I have a very bad mosquito problem and a large yard over an acre. What do you recommend?
    A
Talstar is our most popular selling product for mosquito control.  It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water and apply using a sprayer.  You will need about 1 oz of product for every 1,000 sq ft of space you need to treat. The key is to apply it to all shrubs, trees, and other foliage around the house or patio where you are trying to provide relief.  It should be directed not only on top of the leaves and plants, but on the underside of the leaves as well which is where the mosquitoes hang out.  Talstar should be applied every 30 days for optimum control.

    Q
Does new paint affect talstar p effectiveness in controlling wasps. House was painted the day after spraying
    A
The new paint probably covered up the application of Talstar P. You will need to reapply Talstar for effective coverage.

    Q
How long after spreading talstar does it start killing bugs?
    A
Talstar will kill bugs right away or as soon as any bug comes into contact with it.  It is not a contact kill product though, and depending on the insect Talstar will kill it within minutes or longer depending on what insect it is.

    Q
Can Talstar safely be removed from furniture?
I have a little rocker for my son outside that I want to move indoors but the pest control guy sprayed Talstar all over it. Is there a safe way to wash it off? Will it hurt my son? Should we re-stain it? Will Talstar end up on my carpet?
    A
Talstar breaks down in about 3-4 weeks when it is exposed to outdoor elements. After 3-4 weeks has passed you can thoroughly scrub the chair with soap and water and rinse with copious amounts of water and bring the chair inside for your son to use. Talstar is a water based product and it will not hurt your carpet. Talstar is even labeled for indoor use but it is restricted to cracks and crevices.

    Q
Should I use a 2 oz. Talstar per gallon of water for these pesky/biting bugs as to keep them outdoors?
for the use against asian beetles. Bad infestation every 2nd week in October annually.
    A
The maximum use rate for Talstar P is 1 ounce of product per gallon of water. We do not recommend that you make the dilution any stronger than the max usage rate. Using more than the recommended usage rate will just mean that you are wasting product but you will not see any better results. You can use Talstar P outdoors around your door frames, window frames, vents, eaves, around the bottom of your foundation, and any other crack or crevice where an insect could gain entry, once a month August-November to keep the Asian Lady Beetles from getting indoors.

    Q
Should I use Talstar P or Cyper WP for roaches in my apartment?
I am looking to buy a strong insecticide to keep away the roaches inside in my apartment . Which product do you think is better for me :Talstar P or Cyper WP? Do you have something else stronger?
    A
Both Talstar P and Cyper WP would do a great job for roach control. Talstar P will dry clear while Cyper WP can leave a white powdery residue behind. Cyper WP on the other hand does have a little bit of a faster knockdown. We also recommend that you caulk as many cracks and crevices as you can in your apartment. Caulk around baseboards, places where utilities such cables, pipes and wires enter in through the walls, also around plumbing fixtures and window and door frames. This will help cut down on the roaches ability to travel through the walls of your neighbors apartment and into your apartment.

    Q
We're just starting this process. Is there a generic product for inside use?
We have silver fish and a few small ants towards the end of the previous treatment cycle and want to also control for termites.
    A
Our most popular general use product is called Talstar.  It is widely used by pest control companies because it is labeled for almost every insect you could have a problem with and you can use it outside the home as well as inside, it is odorless and very safe for use around children and pets.  It is a liquid concentrate that you mix with water in a one gallon hand pump sprayer.  It will last for 60 to 90 days outside in between treatments.  It is also labeled for lawn and ornamental use, and can be used on trees, plants, bushes and shrubs for all sorts of ornamental pests including Japanese beetles, mosquitoes, and other leaf eating pests.

    Q
Do you have products for Pine beetles that are not liquids?
    A
Since pine borers are a type of bark beetle you must apply a product directly to the bark to control the beetles and these products are only available in liquid form. Unfortunately there is no easy solution when it comes to pine beetles. Infected trees should be cut down (before the newly hatched beetles fly out of the trees in the spring/summer) and the wood burned or chipped, while other still healthy trees should be sprayed annually to protect them. Because of the natural boring behavior of the beetle they are protected from topically applied insecticides and systemic insecticides (those injected into the tree or applied as a root drench) have proven ineffective for pine beetle infestations. Healthy trees can be protected before the beetles attack by topically spraying them with a synthetic pyrethroid like Talstar. The tree should be sprayed from the ground to 15 ft up the trunk to prevent future infestations. You should contact your local cooperative extension office to find out the best time to start spraying in your region.

    Q
Best product in high UV areas?
I live fairly close to Las Vegas, Nevada. Lots and lots of sunshine. I'm looking for a product that will provide the longest residual killing power considering the high UV here in the desert. Target pests are cockroaches, spiders, scorpions, and ants. I have ordered Talstar P for inside use, and Demon WP for outside, in the hopes that the Demon WP will have greater UV resistance and provide longer residual action.
    A
You picked the exact products we would have recommended for your use. Demon WP will hold up very well outdoors as wettable powders are considered very stable formulations. Of course the only downside to wettable powders is that they can leave a white powdery residue behind so we usually will recommend using a product such as Talstar indoors if the powdery residue in a concern.

    Q
I sprayed this on my Meyer Lemon 2 weeks before it bloomed. Do I need to remove fruit?
It didn't fruit until a couple weeks after spraying. I know this is not systemic and its not suppose to be absorbed into the plant so is there any harm in eating my lemons. I have since bought captian jacks with spinosad for this tree but Im wondering if I need to discard the fruit already on it.
    A
Talstar P is not labeled to be used on edible plants. The manufacturer does recommend that you discard any fruit from the tree for this growing season if the tree was sprayed with Talstar P.

    Q
Will bleaching the baseboards after spraying Talstar inside defeat the purpose of spraying?
I have a little one crawling around and would just feel better cleaning after it has dried.....my sister in law does it but i just didn't know if it would.still be effective
    A
If you wash down the areas where you have applied Talstar P you will remove the residual effect left behind by the product. Talstar P is a crack and crevice spray only so if you just want to clean up any drips that didn't actually get into the crack or crevice that would be fine and would not have any effect on the efficacy of the product.
