It should be directed not only on top of the leaves and plants, but on the underside of the leaves as well which is where the mosquitoes hang out. It should be applied every 30 days for optimum control. Best of all it will not harm any birds in the area.

Talstar P is labeled to be used in poultry houses and chicken coups as long as you follow the instructions on the product label. You must make sure your chickens are out of the area while you apply Talstar P and then they can return to the area as soon as the area has completely dried. This product can be used in other areas where pets may go as long as they are out of the area while the application is being made. Once the treated areas are completely dry, then it is safe to resume normal activity. You must make sure that they are out of the area while you apply the Talstar P, and then they can return to the area as soon as it is dry. Applications should be kept at least 25 feet away from the pond.
Talstar P Professional Insecticide is not labeled for use in pastures with grazing animals.
Talstar P is safe for pets and people to return and resume normal activity once dry, typically after 4-6 hours outside, and an hour inside
Talstar P is safe for cats, dogs, and other pets if used as directed on the product label. Cats and dogs need to be kept out of the area during application and until all surfaces are dry. Once the treated areas are completely dry, then it is safe to resume normal activity.
Talstar P Professional Insecticide will not provide longer coverage when used at a higher rate. It will be a stronger solution if mixed at a higher rate but the time the residual lasts on the surface of a treated area will be the same.
Talstar P Professional Insecticide is water based so it should not stain anything that water would not. However, you can do a test application first before spraying the entire thing.

Talstar P Professional Insecticide can be used on newly planted ornamentals. It is known for being super gentle on plants and is safe when used as directed.
Talstar has a residual for up to a month outdoors and 90 days indoors. Normally as long as Talstar has had at least 6 hours of dry time after it has been applied, then it is considered rain fast to most rain conditions that would come afterwards. If you had a heavy down pour for a few days that started 7 hours after then you may need to reapply at that point. But standard summer rain showers should not break down the residual.
