    A

Tempo 1% Dust can be used to treat ants in cracks and crevices indoors, if used as directed on the manufacturer's product label.

    Q
Can Tempo 1% Dust Insecticide be used for bees in the "hot spot" areas of tile that go around the ledge of my jacuzzi that overflows into the pool?
    A

Tempo 1% Dust Insecticide should not be used in any areas that could contaminate the water by contact or where run off could occur into the pool.

Bees/wasp are attracting to water, because they are looking for water. You may consider keeping a can of Wasp Freeze on hand to spray stinging insects on contact when you see them (do not use over the water).

Please contact the manufacturer Bayer for specifics on this matter 1-800-331-2867.

I had a nest between my gutter and house.a exterminator sprayed powder inside.I don't see any activity where the nest is but now they are getting in my basement through the wall or where there is a electrical conduit. I find them crawling or half dead,I find up to 5 a day.any advice?

Tempo 1% Dust would be what you would use in a wall void or entry point of the yellow jackets so they can pick it up on their feet and take it back further in the nest.

    Q
Will Tempo 1% Dust Insecticide transfer from yellow jacket nest that is located in a soffit to other areas outside on my property and potentially harm honeybees and pollinators?
    A

While it is possible for trace amounts of an insecticide dust to be carried out of a nest that you have treated, usually insects like yellow jackets or other wasps will transfer the dust to other insects in that nest rather than to insects outside their nest. Of course, we do not recommend applying Tempo 1% Dust or similar products directly to pollinators or to flowering plants. We also recommend treating in the evening when these insects are less active and more likely to contact the insecticide you have applied directly to the nesting area.

    Q
Does Tempo Dust 1% work on both paper nest & Mud Dauber wasps?
Our mid mid home has vertical wood slats on the exterior and up almost every single crack between slats we have found paper nests. Now as we are doing a remodel in one area of the house, we have found many nests inside up in the ceilings - both paper and mud nests. Will this work in both places? And how large of an area does one bottle cover? How early in the season can I get started?
    A

Absolutely!  You can apply Tempo 1% Dust anywhere you see wasps, yellow jackets, and any other labeled pests are entering either your home or another structure. You can even use Tempo Dust for wasps nesting in the ground or in a nest hanging from a tree. Tempo Dust is by far our best selling dust for flying insects. It will typically wipe out a nuisance nest within 24 hours.  It is best to apply the dust in the late evening when they are not actively flying around anymore. 1 to 2 puffs from a hand duster is all that you need. This product is used at a rate of 0.5 to 1 lb. per 1,000 sq. ft. Please take a moment to review our Wasp Control Guide for more information and helpful tips on eradicating these pests.

    Q
When is the best time to apply Tempo 1% Dust?
It is currently winter in the midwest and I'd like to know the best time to apply this to the eaves of the house to help prevent wasps from nesting there come spring/summer.
    A

If applied into voids for wasp control, the best time to apply Tempo 1% Dust is when these pests start to become active. It will work best for wasps when it's fresh. If you believe the area you will treat may have moisture build up, it would be best to use Delta Dust. Delta Dust is water-resistant and can easily be applied with any of our hand dusters.

    Q
Is Tempo 1% Dust the best powder insecticide in an interior wall to kill carpenter ants?
    A

Tempo 1% Dust would be a great choice to dust in a wall void for carpenter ants. Dusts do tend to kill the ants a bit faster than foaming but you may need to drill more holes or open the wall a bit more to make sure you are getting even coverage. Please take a look at our Carpenter Ant Control Guide for some great information about dusting and other products you can use in a wall void.

    Q
What interior prep work should be done before dusting crawl space with Tempo 1%?
Looking to dust our crawl space for brown recluse spiders. Was wondering if there are any precautions or preparation I should take interior before or after, such as closing vents or re-washing dishes, etc.
    A

There will not be a need to prep a crawl space when getting ready to dust with an insecticide dust like Tempo 1% Dust unless there’s items that will need to be removed. You will need to apply about 0.5 lbs to 1.0 lbs Tempo 1% dust for each 1,000 sq. ft. of crawl space. Spreading the dust over the entire crawl space using a hand duster can be a labor intensive job. Most folks choose to use a Dustin Mizer Duster to help cover the area and save their hands from pumping a hand duster multiple times.

    Q
What can I use to treat bees in my wall?
    A

For bees in a wall, it is recommended to use a dust in the wall voids, such as Tempo Dust. This will provide control for up to 7 months if the dust is undisturbed. Be sure to only use a light coating of dust so that the bees will not avoid the area. 1-2 puffs out of the bottle is sufficient.

We do recommend consulting with a professional if you believe you have a honey bee hive in your wall since you must remove all materials, honey, etc. completely to avoid any reinfestation or secondary problems like hive beetles and mold.
