    Q
    When do I spray Tempo?
I live on the North Carolina/ Virginia boarder. Tempo worked great last year but now that it is spring, when should I apply ? My main problem is 1'000s of grasshoppers once they hatch. Do I spray now or wait until they hatch. we are new to the area and I just remember mowing the lawn last year while 1'000s of bug flew up from the lawn. Also, what would be a good general weed spray for my lawn ? I have a tractor and a 25 gallon pull behind sprayer. Thank you !
    A

You should start spraying before the egg hatch. To find the correct timing in your region you should contact your local cooperative extension office as the timing varies from region to region. Cooperative extension locator: http://npic.orst.edu/pest/countyext.htm

    Q
Will Tempo SC Ultra kill hookworms in our yard?
    A

Unfortunately there is not a product on the market that is labeled or recommended for hookworms. While some insecticides that are labeled for turf or lawn infesting insect may work, there has not been enough research to add hookworms to the product labels. We recommend that all animals be kept out of the contaminated area for at least 1 year (during warm spring/summer months, longer during cool winter/fall months) and all feces be removed. Keeping the animals out of the contaminated area for at least 1 year should help control the infestation pattern. It is also important to remove feces from the new latrine area to avoid another infestation. Another option is to remove the contaminated soil and replace if you cannot keep out for 1 year

    Q
Does Tempo work for wasp control?
    A
Tempo is actually one of the top products we recommend for wasp control as well as many other pest in the "stinging pest" category. It is safe to be used in a range of areas and will help keep the population down around your home. If you want to treat a nest directly-whether in the ground or hanging-the Tempo Dust would be more appropriate for the specific application, and use the Tempo SC Ultra for the residual control on the surfaces around that they land on.

  • Asked by Ross from Small Town, Ia

    Q
Can Tempo SC Ultra be mixed with Lawn Herbicide?
I want to spray for both weeds and bugs in one pass. If using Speed Zone or Trimec 992 and a Surfactant will it diminish the results or have an adverse affect on the herbicide?
    A
Sometimes herbicides and insecticides can be mixed depending on the molecular makeup of the products. Since both Speedzone and Trimec 992 are made by PBI Gordon we recommend contacting them at 800-821-7925 to verify that these products can be mixed with Tempo SC Ultra. As far as the surfactant, it will not make a difference. You can add a surfactant to both herbicides and insecticide for extra sticking and penetration power.

    Q
Does it controll fire ants in my back yard?
Will it work on fire ants? How much to put on 1 gallon of water for fire ants? How long between aplication to have fire ants free back yard?
    A
Yes, Tempo SC Ultra is labeled for Fire Ant control. You should mix 16 mL per gallon of water. Be sure to spray the mounds directly while broadcasting the spray all over your lawn for complete coverage. Also, you want to spray 2 to 3 feet up the side of the house and 2 to 3 feet out on the ground, along with window frames, door frames, and any other possible entry point. Performing a treatment every moth outdoors and every 3 months indoors will ensure continued protection.

    Q
Is Tempo effective on spruce bud worm in pine trees?
    A
Tempo Sc Ultra is labeled for bud worms and should do a great job for you when used as directed. We do recommend testing the product on one small area of the tree before broadcasting on the entire tree because spruce are known to loose their color very easily from insecticide applications.

  • Asked by Christy from Leonard, Tx

    Q
Is it safe for chickens to eat dead insects killed by tempo? Is it safe to eat their eggs?
Will it hurt chickens to eat grasshoppers that were killed with Tempo? if so, is it safe to eat their eggs when they start laying? We have a grasshopper infestation, and bought chickens to help control. However, there are so many grasshoppers, we will have to also use tempo in areas away from the chicken coop. We plan to eat the chicken eggs when they start laying. We have friends who are interested in buying eggs from us.
    A
Unless the chickens are consuming the Tempo directly there should be no effect on the bird or their eggs. Once the product has dried, it only has a toxicity level of that to kill something as small as an insect. The insect walks across it, picks up a little bit on their feet/bodies and ingests it as they groom themselves. For there to be even a chance of your chicken having any effect from the tempo on the grasshopper, they would have to eat at least their weight worth in grasshoppers that have died from it.

    Q
Will tempo ultra kill fleas inside the home?
If so, where should this be sprayed? Carpets? How long should we notice no fleas?
    A
Tempo SC is more of a crack and crevice treatment. You could use Tempo SC along baseboards cracks and crevices and then use Nyguard Plus which will treat both eggs and adults. Nyguard Plus can also be applied to carpets, rugs, flooring, floors, drapes and all surfaces of upholstered furniture including under cushions. Avoid over wetting furniture and carpeting

    Q
Is Tempo SC Ultra recommended for termites or should I go with the Termidor SC?
    A
Termidor is the top rated product for termite control on the market today. The only time Temp should be used is if you are directly treating a known nest. Tempo should not be used to prevent termites.

    Q
what is the difference between bifenthrin and tempo sc
    A
Tempo SC is a suspension concentrate that delivers the power of a powder formulation in a liquid. It's easy to use too-less messy to handle, needs less agitation and is more evenly dispersed during application than other products. Tempo SC Ultra has no odor, is non-staining, and has a long lasting residual of up to 3 months. Where as Bifen IT and other Bifenthrin generics control over 75 common insect pests, including termites. Bifen can be used as an indoor and outdoor pest control, turf and ornamental application, and for treating pests in food-handling areas. Both Talstar One and Bifen I/T contain microcrystals that do not break down easily with rain once they bond to surfaces. Both Talstar One and Bifen IT are clear substances that leave no stains on painted surfaces.

    Q
Will Tempo SC Ultra work for Termites?
Have been searching the questions and haven't found any questions about using Tempo for killing termites. I want to treat the foundation to kill termites showing up in an older house with a crawl space.
    A
We can tell you that for termites we almost always recommend Termidor SC. Termidor has a different active ingredient than Tempo SC Ultra and this active ingredient allows the ants or termites to pick the product up on their bodies and move it back to the nest and spread it to the other insects. Tempo on the other hand will only kill the insects that come into direct contact with treated surfaces. Also Termidor will last about twice as long as Tempo when used as a termite barrier in a trenching treatment. Please let us know if you have more questions about Tempo vs Termidor.

    Q
Tempo SC was left in the garage this winter. will it still be effective after freezing temp.?
    A
It is not recommended to leave any type of chemical in areas where they could freeze or over heat because of the potential for the chemical to break down. According to the manufacturer, as long as the Tempo SC Ultra was only exposed to sub freezing temperatures for a short period of time and the product looks exactly the same as before it was exposed, it should be fine.
