    Q
Will vitamin D3 , the active ingredient in Terad3 Blox, bait kill meadow voles?
    A

No  Terad3 Blox is not labeled for voles. It is only labeled for Norway Rats, Roof Rats, and House Mice. We do have other products, such as Contrac Blox, that are labeled to eliminate voles. The active ingredient in it is Bromadiolone

  • Asked by Daniel from Mountville

    Q
Will Terad3 Blox work on killing rabbits in the garden?
    A

Terad3 Blox are not labeled for rabbits.  Rabbits are beneficial animals and there are no baits or poisons on the market for killing them. Rodenticides are not for rabbits and should only be used in tamper resistant bait boxes in areas where rats, mice, or voles are an issue around the structure of a building or home. If you have trouble with rabbits on your property your best approach would be to use an Easy Release Trap and remove them from the yard and release them in a wooded area down the road. You can also consult with your local wildlife and animal control programs for tips on reducing rabbit numbers around your home.

    Q
The rats don't eat Terad3 Blox. What's wrong?
    A

When using a bait like Terad3 Blox, you do need to be sure that there are no other food sources around that may compete with the bait.  This includes outdoor pet food being left out, bird feeders, etc. The bait should be applied in tamper-resistant bait stations, and you should keep in mind that it will take time for the rats to locate and go to the bait, as they can be wary of anything new in their environment.  You may want to take a look at this rodent baiting article for more information on implementing a successful baiting program.

  • Asked by Gary

    Q
    LD50 = ~3.3 tsp
Reading the MSDS, it takes greater than 5K mg/kg to cause 50% of the target population to die. I am witnessing 0.25 tsp being consumed in the bait station over the past 4 days. Am I misunderstanding how much is needed for an effective kill?
    A

The true amount needed for an effective kill will of course depend on size of the rodent, current health of the rodent, and population of the rodents in the area.  .25 tsp may be enough for a younger rodent feeding on the bait. You should always keep enough (Terad3 )bait in the station for the population that is present. They may eat very little one night, and a lot the next night, so it is important to keep an eye on the bait.  Also, you want to make sure there is not some other food source out that is more attractive to them than the bait blox. Little competition of food will make the blox more attractive and more effective.

  • Asked by Marjorie from Jordanville Ny

    Q
I am looking for a packet bait with out secondary poisioning.
I want to place in crawal spaces, walls etc where I cant get the block. I have cats and dogs, both which chase rodents.
    A
All of the pelleted rodent bait does have a chance of secondary poisoning. Terad3 is known to have a reduced risk of secondary poisoning but it it not available in packets, only loose pellets and bait blox. Contrac Rodent Place Paks would be the next best option. Cats and dogs would just about have to eat their body weight in bait to receive a lethal dose of the bait. Most cats and dogs are well fed and don't actually eat the rodents they catch. Usually they just chew on them a bit and then leave them alone. Usually rodents will only have a small amount of bait in their bodies at a time, not enough to cause any issues with cats or dogs. We would also like you to know that all bait is now labeled to be used in tamper resistant bait stations and is not allowed to be thrown out into places like crawl spaces or attics. This is due to new EPA regulations that were put into effect June of 2011.

  • Asked by Corinne from Summerfield Fl

    Q
    Is cholecalciferol really safe?
I started using rat baits with vitamin D3 years ago because I have cats and dogs and was worried about their safety. I used the Rampage packets with good results killing rats and even had a dog eat one of the packets with no ill effects. I was just about to reorder for the first time in several years and read on a pet poison web site that calls it one of the most dangerous poisons of the market as there is no remedy for the kidney failure it causes if symptoms go unnoticed for a few days. If pets (8-75 lbs.) cannot access the poison, is there really a risk they could die from eating dying rats? (My dogs will happily eat rats if they can catch them.) Thanks!
    A
Bait should always be kept out of reach of children, pets and non target animals and has low toxicity to predatory birds. Animals normally have to eat their body weight or more in order to become poisoned. If you do suspect your pet has been poisoned by Terad3, you will need to contact your vet as soon as possible.

    Q
Will terad3bloc attract and kill squirrels?
    A

According to the product page, the Terad3 Blox Rodenticide targets Norway Rats, Roof Rats, House Mice. However, it is possible for a squirrel to be attracted to the bait but it would have to consume more than a rodent to kill it.

  • Asked by Judy from Wheelersburg, Oh

    Q
Do you have to use bait stations with Terad3 Blox?
    A

Per the Terad3 Blox Label: Apply bait in locations out of reach of children, pets, domestic animals and nontarget wildlife, or in tamper-resistant bait stations. These stations must be resistant to destruction by dogs and by children under six years of age, and must be used in a manner that prevents such children from reaching into bait compartments and obtaining bait. If bait can be shaken from bait stations when they are lifted, units must be secured or otherwise immobilized. Stronger bait stations are needed in areas open to hoofed livestock, raccoons, bears, or other potentially destructive animals, or in areas prone to vandalism

  • Asked by Joel from La Grande, Or
    07/08/2018
    Q
Why is the manufacture of Terad3 no longer making a granular form?
I used to use the granules to poison voles in my garden by placing the granules in the tunnels. I also have bait stations designed for blocks.
    A

We do not know the reasoning behind why the manufacturer discontinued the Terad3 pellets. Sometimes it is due to people using them off label (they are not labeled for direct burrow baiting or for voles) or could be due to lack of sales being high enough to warrant paying for the registration of it with the EPA. As newer and better products hit the market sometimes some will just become obsolete in comparison.

The Kaput Rat & Mouse Place Packs are what most of our customers use for vole control these days. They load one packet per bait station and place the station right outside the burrow or activity areas where you know the voles are inhabiting.

    Q
    Will Terad3 kill chipmunks?
We have a lot of chipmunks and they are very destructive.
    A

Terad3 Blox is not labeled for chipmunks and we do not carry a bait that is.  That being said, if they were to eat enough of the bait it could kill them.
