I this a good option for a lawn acidifier?

My PH is a little elevated, 6.8. Is this a good granular option to lower my PH in the lawn? My lawn is tool large for a broadcast liquid.

Answer:

While the Hi Yield Ammonium Sulfate 21-0-0 contains some sulfur and could be used, it is looked at a bit more as a fertilizer and conditioner and would not be the correct choice for lowering your soil pH long term or if you want to treat large areas. Instead you would need a product like the Hi Yield Soil Sulfur. According to Hi Yield: Aluminum Sulfate is faster acting than elemental sulfur because it is very soluble. The advantage of elemental sulfur is that it is more economical, particularly if a large area is to be treated. Six times as much aluminum sulfate is needed as elemental sulfur to achieve the same results. If you have a large yard, the Hi Yield Soil Sulfur is what you'd want to use instead and ideally incorporate it into the top layer of soil if possible for fastest results.
