How often you check really depends on how active the termites are in your stations. We recommend checking frequently so that you are keeping bait in the stations as long as termites are actively feeding on the Trelona Compressed Termite Bait.
Trelona Compressed Termite Bait must be kept at least 10 feet away from a well and at least 25 feet away from any body of water.
Trelona Compressed Termite Bait can be placed in the Advance Termite Bait Stations when activity is found in these stations. Unfortunately, as far as we know, they will not work in any other bait system.
Trelona Compressed Termite bait should only be used in stations placed around/adjacent to homes as part of subterranean termite monitoring/prevention. They are not for use further out in the lawn or in or around vegetable gardens. For this type of area your best bet is to just pour boiling water on the insects/area you see activity. If there is raw wood around the edge of the bed, then you could treat the wood with Boracare or Timbor and then add a water-sealant to protect the wood from future infestations
If Terminix is using the Advance Termite Bait Stations, then yes, the Trelona Compressed Termite Bait will fit. If they are using a Centricon System then it will not fit.
Due to environmental conditions and other factors, the Trelona Compressed Termite Bait will start to lose it's efficacy over time. To keep the bait as effective as possible, it should be replaced if it is still there after 90 days.
The Trelona Compressed Termite Bait - box (6 cartridges) will only last for 90 days once put in the stations. The monitoring cartridges will last a year.

Yes, the wood is the attractant and food source for the termites so it is important the wood monitoring base be in the station for the system to work. Once activity has been detected in the Trelona Inspection Cartridges, remove the inspection cartridge only and replace with a Trelona Compressed Termite Bait Cartridge.
The wood monitoring bases should be replaced once a year however, depending on where you live and the climate and amount of rain, you may need to replace the wood base more often. If the wood bases become very soggy and moldy then you should replace them.
