    Q
Is Trimec 992 safe to use to kill thistle in a vegetable garden?
My vegetable garden has been taken over by thistle. I am wanting to get rid of it but still have the soil still be safe to plant vegetables in. Is this possible with Trimec or should I look for another product to kill the thistle?
    A

Trimec 992 Broadleaf Herbicide is not safe to apply in an area that would be a vegetable garden.

In the vegetable garden, you would need to spot treat carefully using a non-selective herbicide like RoundUp or glyphosate alternative or hand pull/dig any broadleaf weeds or thistles.   You can plant areas in 2 weeks after application.

    Q
Can I tank mix Turflon Ester Ultra with Trimec 992?
I have both herbicides and wondering if I can mix them together to apply at one time
    A

Turflon Ester Ultra and Trimec 992 could be tank mixed together but we would recommend doing a jar test for compatibility as directed on the product label. The jar test simulates how it will be mixed in the tank to make sure they go into solution together. If there is no issue with the jar test, they can then be tank mixed and applied.

    Q
How far away to keep Trimec 992 Broadleaf Herbicide applications from raised garden?
How far away should this product be sprayed from a raised edible garden? Can grass border the raised beds, or how many feet away should grass be from raised edible garden beds? Does height matter (6 inch high beds vs 12
    A

Trimec 992 Broadleaf Herbicide should not be applied in a way that would cause any drifts or droplets to contact edible vegetation.  Staying about 10 ft. away from your raised garden would help to prevent any drift contacting the plants or any product getting near the root zones of your plants.  Having grass border the raised garden is possible but not recommended due to issues it can cause

Why did I have approx 24 ounces of a foamy sludge in the bottom of my 25 gallon tank sprayer with Trimec 992 Broadleaf Herbicide and water?
The sludge was so thick the sprayer stopped spraying properly. I agitated the product very well to begin with, it seemed very oily.

    Q
Does Trimec 992 Broadleaf Herbicide work on wild violets and will it take repeat applications?
Violets? I sprayed this exactly three weeks ago and the weeds (especially the violets!!!) seem to have grown even more! It's almost like I sprayed fertilizer on them instead of this product. Getting discouraged. Any other recommendations? The violets are also going into the mulched beds. Is there something I can use that won't harm my other plants (Lenten roses, crepe myrtles, peonies, etc.)?
    A

Trimec 992 Broadleaf Herbicide is not labeled for wild violet therefore would not be effective in eliminating this weed.

TZone SE Broadleaf Herbicide or Hi Yield Triclopyr Ester would be alternative herbicides to target wild violet in tolerant turfgrasses. When treating in landscape beds, direct spot treatments are recommended and do not spray within the drip line of desirable plants. Do not apply when overspray or wind drift conditions are present to avoid injury.

    Q
Will Trimec 992 be absorbed through the flower of a dandelion?
I have some young dandelions that are pretty much all flower with very little in the way of leaves. Will Trimec 992 be effective if mainly/only the flower gets treated?
    A

Trimec 992 Broadleaf Herbicide is labeled to kill dandelions so you likely will see some results even after they are have flowered. Repeat applications if needed.

The best time to treat dandelions is in the fall as the weeds naturally channel their nutrients down into their roots in preparation for winter. If sprayed in fall, the weeds will naturally send the herbicide, along with their nutrients, down into the roots. In spring, applying when the weeds are young is best however repeat applications may be necessary.

    Q
Will Trimec 992 Broadleaf Herbicide kill stickers?
I purchased land that has a lot of stickers, to the point my dogs are suffering with stickers getting into their paw pads. Will Trimec 992 kill off stickers? And when's the best time to apply?
    A

Trimec 992 Broadleaf Herbicide covers many broadleaf weeds including lawn burweed, puncturevine(goathead), & cocklebur. Trimec 992 is a post emergent that should be applied when weeds are actively growing between 65-85 degrees. Do not apply as a broadcast spray application on bermudagrass during spring green up or during transition. Spot treatments are recommended until the turfgrass is fully green and out of dormancy. View the full product label for more information.

"Stickers" is a very broad term used by many to describe sharp tiny spiked weeds that commonly stick to pets fur, clothing, etc but this could be any type of weed. To be sure you are using the most effect herbicide, we would suggest contacting your Master Gardener with the County Extension Office for help in a positive id of the specific “sticker” weed you have growing in the area. This will help us in making the best recommendation for you.
