This product allows new planting of seed right away, not 4-6 weeks later.  This size bag will last me several years.  It mixes well in my 2 gallon hand held sprayer, but the directions do not specifically address mixing by volume.  I think this would be most helpful for the homeowner for yard use.

What don't people understand about "1 1/2 to 4 1/2oz per 1000 sq ft?" That is the mixture rate, so if you could get 12 lbs in a gallon of water and spray that gallon over an acre area that is your rate!!!! the best way to deduce this is to fill your sprayer say it's 5 gallons with water set your flow and tow it for for 1000 sq ft. judge how much water it took to reach the 1000 sq ft limit you measured off. if it took 2 1/2 gallons at the speed and flow you were pumping you'd mulitply 2.5*(1 1/2 to 4 1/2oz) and get 3.75 to 11.25oz for every 2.5 gallons of water, so your 5 gallon sprayer can apply 2*(3.75 to 11.25oz) for every 2000 sq ft and every 5 gallons of water. remember you're not diluting the product you just need to ensure you're putting it down at the rate recommended, they don't care about how much water you use to cover that area.

We don't know if this works or not as it just recently got warm enough to start yard work. We as of now have applied the product, seeded, added dirt, seeded again and are awaiting the results. The only complaint we have right now is that the directions for mixing the product were not very clear so we are just hoping we did it right. Would be nice if they would just come out and say - mix 8 ozs with 1 gallon of water - or something like that.

Prevents weed emergency very well, to dilute, and can lay down grass seed whenever the mood strikes me. Plus no mixed in cheap fertilizer. Makes lawn management much more flexible.
