Learn the proper way to open and load the JT Eaton 902 Top Loader Bait Station to ensure safe handling and maximum effectiveness. Correct loading helps rodents access bait easily while keeping it protected and contained.
Hi, my name is Kara with DoMyOwn.com.
Here I have with me the JT Eaton top loader. The JT Eaton top loader is a versatile and unique bait station that allows you to bait in areas where typical box type bait stations may not work or be best.
The bait is held vertically within the station and has holes on each side of the tube for access. You can mount it to a fence, beams, pipes, tree limbs, and many other surfaces where control may be needed. When used mounted to a fence, wall, or tree - this station is going to be more moisture resistant than a traditional bait station that would need to be placed on the ground.
For blocks or soft bait, you’ll load bait on the bait holder separately before inserting it into the station. Be Sure anytime you're handling any type of rodent bait station or rodent bait station that you're wearing chemical resistant gloves to avoid contaminating the station or the bait with. human scent.
The station will come with the lid already securely tightened. Use the hex key that's provided or any other standard hex key. Loosen the screw. What you're gonna wanna do is turn counterclockwise to unlock the top of the lid and this will allow you to slide the cap off the bait station which is where your top loader for the bait's gonna be.
So with these bait blocks, you'll notice there's a hole cut into the center of the block. This is what's going to allow you to slide the bait into the JT Eaton top loader or any any other typical vertical or horizontal bait rod. With these pouches, they are individually wrapped. You don't want to unwrap them, keep them just as they are.
You're going to take the bait and push down onto the rod til it pierces through the plastic coating and simply slide the bait around depending on how much you need. If you're baiting for rats, those typically are going to require more bait placements that mice do.
Once you have this loaded with the amount of bait that you're gonna need, time to load it back into the station. You'll slide the top into the station vertically. You wanna align the screw with this cutout... there's a cutout on the front and the back side of the back side of the station, so it doesn't matter what direction you go. Once you get that aligned, push down on the cap until it's secure then you're going to give it a clockwise turn to lock it. then, simply take your hex key and tighten the screw into the station. Once that's tightened, you're good to go.
If you have rodents that aren't a fan of traditional bait blocks, or you live in a high heat area where a liquid may be more palatable, you can also use the top Loader Water Bottle with any liquid rodent bait. This is going to act similar to cage mounted pet water bottles that are gravity controlled. If you are choosing to use the liquid bait bottle, you're gonna need to unscrew the rod from the cap before placing the bottle before placing the bottle into the station. So, once you've got your bottle filled and the rod's removed, you're gonna insert the bottle with the spout facing down into the station. And same applies with the liquid water bottle. Slide it into the cutout, give it a slight clockwise turn and tighten your screw.
