Not any problems with other plants, used Sevin dust on squash, tomatoes and watermelons and cantaloupes and did fine, but the corn was filled with worms, about to replant again. Do we need to treat the dirt first? When and what to spray information needed. Thanks.
The first thing you should do is have the worm identified as different pests require different products. You can do this by contacting your local cooperative extension office and asking to speak to the entomologist on staff or you can contact your local agricultural department. Either office will most likely ask for a sample or picture of the insect for identification purposes. These same offices will most likely tell you the name of a product or at least the active ingredient that can be used to prevent or eliminate the worms in question.
