A non-ionic surfactants is a material that can greatly reduce the surface tension of water when used in very low concentrations. Examples include alcohol, phenol, ether, ester and amide. Some folks have said they used dish soap, however the manufacturers of herbicides highly recommend using surfactants like Nonionic Surfactant to enhance the effectiveness of their products.
