We have huge ant mounds in the yard, also have noticed some now on patio and sidewalks, so I think I need 2 separate products- 1 for the yard issue the other for by the house. So far no issue in the house. We have kids and pets so would like to use the safest product for them. We also back to a golf course, so I am concerned about and product running off our yard into the pond and woods.
You really need to identify what kind of ant you are dealing with. Different species have different treatment methods that are best for each type. If you are dealing with fire ants we would recommend a bait like Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait to be sprinkled around the yard and areas where mounds are present. If it is not fire ants you could use a general insecticide for both areas you see problems. You could use a spray like Talstar P that you mix with water and use as a general barrier around the home and across the yard and walkways, but then use as a drench on the individual mounds. Please let us know if you have any other questions, or feel free to get a sample of an ant on a glueboard and once identified by a professional let us know what you are dealing with for a more specific treatment.
