Last year I lost a rather large oak tree to an infestation of ambrosia borers. I want to protect the surrounding oak trees from being attacked. What is the best product to use? I had an arborist examine the tree and he said it was a ambrosia borer.
You might want to look at Talstar P. It is typically used on trees for beetles. It can be applied directly to the bark and tree and it will not harm the tree itself.
