Have a barn and some timbers have an existing PP infestation and I wish to treat the remaining timbers as a preventative measure. In total, there is 1,330' of 8x8 timbers, of which 25% are infested. Due to cost, I'll treat the infested timbers at a 2:1 ratio and then go back and spray the entire structure, including the previously treated parts with a 5:1 ratio. I previously sprayed the upper structure using this method and have seen a kill, but it took 2 years for the frass to stop. I did spray the structure to the point where the product would start dripping off the beam.
When using Boracare for an exisiting infestion you woud want to use it at a 1:1 mixing ratio.According to the Log Home and Dimensional Lumber tech Bulletin on this product you would get 75 linear foot of coverage per gallon once it is diluted.
