What is the diff between oil and water based pesticide in terms of effectiveness and long lasting residue?
Water based insecticides are the most commonly used insecticides today because they have low or no odor and they usually do not stain. Oil based insecticides are used in cases where the product may need to stay wetter for a longer period of time and they are usually used outdoors to avoid odor issues and staining. Oil based insecticides usually need to be diluted with oil or you must use an additive such as adjuvant to dilute the product in water (always read the product label for proper mixing instructions). However, even water based insecticides today can last up to 90 days and have long residuals.
