April from Merritt Island, Florida writes

What month is best to use Merit in Florida to prevent grub damage?

My lawn is fine. I had grubs about two years ago and used Merit but do not remember the month. I used it also last fall/winter, but want to use it again this summer to prevent grubs. What is the best month I am in Florida?

Answer:

Treating for grubs with Merit 0.5 G Insecticide Granules can often vary from region to region and can change with the weather you have each season.  It is best to apply your grub control products in mid-June to mid-July, before the grubs hatch. The eggs hatch in the fall, and grubs feed on turf in the fall, overwinter underground, and then feed again in the spring.  You will see damage during both of these seasons.  For more specific timing for your area, we would recommend contacting your local county extension office.  We also have a treatment guide with more helpful information on grub control.
