Will MSM Turf Herbicide control lawn burweed without injuring lawns in Louisiana (zone 9A)?

I have clients who are just starting up with our company and they are asking if we can control Burweed in their turf areas. This and Celcius are the only 2 hot weather chems I can think of we can use right now without damaging turf. Will the MSM work on Burweed?

Answer:

MSM Turf Herbicide is not labeled for lawn burweed. An alternative to Celsius WG to treat lawn burweed would be Certainty Herbicide. This is safe for warm season turfgrasses and labeled to control lawn burweed with the use of a Non Ionic Surfactant.  A second application may be required 4 to 6 weeks following the initial application for complete control. For smaller lawns, Image Kill Nutsedge Concentrate could be used.  During warm/summer months, applications should be done in early morning or late afternoon/evening when temperatures are coolest and between 65-85 degrees to prevent injuring turf.
