If cutting down trees or thick bushes like palmettos, then you can brush on the fresh cuts either a glyphosate product like Ranger Pro Herbicide or a product containing triclopyr, such as Fertilome Brush Killer and Stump Killer (undiluted). If the stumps have already been cut, then it would be best to cut again and then apply the herbicide immediately. Keep in mind that this is only to prevent new growth. If you need the stumps removed, then there is no substitute for physically removing the stumps and remaining roots.
