Will Scotts Turf Builder Weed and Feed 3 help to control my 2nd year of a kyllinga infestation in my lawn?

1st year, I used IMAGE for spot applications. 2nd year, used IMAGE and Weed & Feed product with Quin Pro Crop (I think) and have not had any results. Any suggestions?

Answer:

To kill weeds like Kyllinga or anything in that family you would typically need a concentrated sprayable product, rather than a granule or anything that is a weed and feed as it will usually not be as impactful on that species.

Sedgehammer + Herbicide is a great choice for spot treating Kyllinga in lawns and comes pre measured and mixed with a surfactant already for better stick and burn down of the target weeds. If you have a large area to treat Sedgehammer also comes in a bottle size that would cover roughly an acre. You would need to use a Non Ionic Surfactant to mix in the tank when applying.

Kyllinga, like nutsedge, will often take multiple applications to see full control, and results will usually be slow to get the best control over the entire plant including the roots. Follow up applications can be made after 6 weeks if needed.

Take a moment to review this article on Green Kyllinga by the NC Extension Office for some addtional information.
