If we hang Nuvan pro strips in a sealed area with stacked cardboard boxes that are taped shut (with items inside loosely packed to allow for air around items), will the vapors penetrate the cardboard adequately to treat the items inside? Also, will the vapors penetrate cushions and mattresses (in a storage unit, not in living areas) to kill mites the size of dust mites (about .2mm) that are embedded in the insulating material?
Nuvan ProStrips will not penetrate through cardboard boxes from the outside. It is best to treat the items enclosed. The strips are intended for small, enclosed spaces and belongings as directed. You do not want to overly pack items in containers that you are using with the product. They will work for up to 4 months. We recommend using mattress/box spring encasements. If not using encasements, there are products for dust mites that can be applied such as Sterifab and NyGuard Plus (folds, tufts, seams only). Nuvan ProStrips is not labeled for dust mites therefore would not be an effective treatment. For additional information on dust mites, check out our article here.
