Songbird Essentials Hanging Squirrel Baffle 12 in. (SESQ83) is recommended to be applied with a hook (like a Shepards hook) per the manufacturer not directly to the pole. It comes with hardware and you will hang first with the round hook from underneath onto the hook that attaches to a pole or for hanging.
