Will this attract roaches?

Hello, we discovered an American Cockroach in our apartment. After Pest control came out, they left the dead roach, but then placed "First Strike Soft Bait" down. Will this attract more roaches? Why would they put down mouse bait? When we first moved to the apartment, there were a few German cockroaches, but those seem to be gone.
