I purchased land that has a lot of stickers, to the point my dogs are suffering with stickers getting into their paw pads. Will Trimec 992 kill off stickers? And when's the best time to apply?
Trimec 992 Broadleaf Herbicide covers many broadleaf weeds including lawn burweed, puncturevine(goathead), & cocklebur. Trimec 992 is a post emergent that should be applied when weeds are actively growing between 65-85 degrees. Do not apply as a broadcast spray application on bermudagrass during spring green up or during transition. Spot treatments are recommended until the turfgrass is fully green and out of dormancy. View the full product label for more information. "Stickers" is a very broad term used by many to describe sharp tiny spiked weeds that commonly stick to pets fur, clothing, etc but this could be any type of weed. To be sure you are using the most effect herbicide, we would suggest contacting your Master Gardener with the County Extension Office for help in a positive id of the specific “sticker” weed you have growing in the area. This will help us in making the best recommendation for you.
