Would I be able to spread a light layer of Black Kow Composted Cow Manure 0.5 - 0.5 - 0.5 over some grass seed?

I'm getting my law aerated and some seed put down. Can i spread a thin layer over it to help it grow and keep the birds from eating the seed?
