    How long does it take Zenith Zoysia Grass Seed to seed and become established?
    Assuming you plant correctly in the appropriate season with the recommended amount of sunlight and watering.
    A

    Per the package for Zenith Zoysia Grass Seed it should germinate in 2 to 3 weeks.  It can take a year or so to get established.

    Can I reseed with Zenith Zoysia Grass Seed over exiting Fescue lawn?
    A

    Per the manufacturer the Zenith Zoysia Grass Seed, you cannot seed with this product over an existing lawn.  You would need to completely kill the current lawn to have bare ground, till the soil and apply according the complete instructions on the label provided on the bag.

    Zenith Zoysia Grass Seed will go dormant in the winter and will tolerant some cold weather. It is a warm season grass and therefor cannot tolerant for example regions the have continous snow on the ground through the winter season.

    Zenith Zoysia Grass Seed should be used in a warm weather zone. We would recommend checking with your local cooperative extension office to find out what type of grass thrives in your area. With this particular product, you will use 1-3 lbs per 1000 square feet. For an acre which is about 43,650 square feet, you will be using 22 bags.

    Can you burn dormant zoysia grass to dethatch it?
    A

    If you have experience with burning the dormant turf, then it can be very good for a zoysia lawn to be top-burned about every 5 years. This process will release nitrogen and phosphorous nutrients into the soil and create a very green lawn when it grows back. If you are using any pre-emergents, then you would not put down pre-emergent until after this process. However, since burning can be very dangerous, we do not recommend that homeowners attempt this kind of treatment. This would need to be performed by experienced professionals and may not be allowed in all areas.

    Will it hurt to aerate my Zenith Zoysia grass lawn?
    I aerate my lawn every year and plant new seed. If I do this with Zoysia grass will it hurt my lawn?
    A

    No, aerating will not hurt the Zenith Zoysia grass. The best time to aerate Zoysiagrass is in early summer, when the grass is growing rapidly. On very compacted soils, aerating twice a year would not be out of the question. Apply fertilizer and water after aerating so the turf recovers rapidly.

    My backyard is fescue. I want to kill the fescue and sow zoysia. What do I kill the fescue grass with?
    A

    You can use any Roundup product to kill the Fescue quickly and allow you to reseed with the Zoysia within 1-2 weeks usually at most. Keep in mind that zoysia seed is best put down in the spring as it thrives on warmer weather where as in the fall you normally seed with cool season grasses that thrive in the cooler temps like Fescue and bluegrass.

    The Zenith Zoysia Grass Seed is best applied in the spring so applying it now would not be recommended.

    Can you plant Zenith Zoysia Grass Seed over St. Augustine grass?
    A

    It is not recommended to just apply Zenith Zoysia Grass Seed over an existing lawn without first killing the grass that is there.  Zoysia is too slow growing for the seedlings to compete with existing grass.

    Does Zoysia look like Bermuda?
    A
    We would not be able to accurately describe the differences in Zoysia and Bermuda grass to help you determine what kind of lawn you have. However if you contact your local Master Gardner or bring them a sample of your lawn, they should be able to help you make this identification and what methods are best for treating it and keeping it healthy.

    Zenith Zoysia Grass Seed should not be planted from seed this late in the year, but if it's planted from sod you can. It may have time to root before winter.
