Yes and No. It depends on what kind of mold it is. The company that makes the Advanced Termite Bait System has put out a training guide for quality assurance that addresses when you should replace the wood or cartridges based on what they look like and what color the mold or fungus is. From the guide: In general, replace the TIC if the tablets have:
•Pink mold present
•Veins of pink run throughout the TIC
•Tablets appears to be slimy or glistening like gelatin
•It has been in the ground for 15 months
Do not replace TICs if the tablets:
•Appear to be swollen or enlarged
•Have black or green colored mold on their surfaces

If you are having difficulty removing the wood monitoring base from the Advance Termite Bait Station, it may be best to remove the station and shake the base out. You can also try to use a flat head screw driver to wiggle the wood base out.
Yes, the Advance Termite Bait Station are recyclable.
The Advance Termite Bait Stations contain both a wood food source and an inspection cartridge.
For bed bugs, we normally recommend using one of our Bed Bug Control Kits, as it is usually necessary to treat with more than one type of product. Which kit you choose depends on the number of rooms that need to be treated. It would be a good idea to look over our Bed Bug Control Guide if you have a moment.
You can wrap the cartridge after removing from the Advance Termite Bait Station in a plastic bag and dispose of it in your outdoor trashcan. Once the termites are removed from their colony they cannot survive on their own.
Advance Termite Bait Stations are placed in the ground ten to fifteen feet apart around the home and about two to three feet out from the foundation of the house.
The Advance Termite Bait Station contains a wood food source and an inspection cartridge for detecting subterranean termites. The active ingredient that kills the termites is the Trelona Compressed Bait. Trelona is a compressed termite bait that has an active ingredient, novaluron, which is an insect growth inhibitor. When Trelona is eaten by the termite, novaluron harms the ability to properly synthesize and inhibits the termite to molt. When this is consumed by a termite, it will impair the ability of a termite to properly synthesize chitin and disallow the termite to molt. By being unable to molt, they are not able to form a replacement exoskeleton. Termites will either die or are incapacitated by their inability to complete the molting process.
Termite bait stations such as the Advance Termite Bait Stations technically could be installed as close together as you would like. However, standard application is about every 10-12 feet, and 4-6 feet from the foundation outside the dripline of the roof.
Since bait stations are considered prevention, if there were live termites found under the siding, then that should have been treated directly with a termiticide liquid or foam as well. Stations can be checked more often so that bait is replaced as often as needed to maintain a fresh supply as long as there are termites found in that area.
You can learn more about Termite Prevention in our online guide here.
Yes, you are correct. The Advance Termite Bait Station System is used for monitoring termite activity surrounding the home. Each station holds a wood monitoring base and a termite inspection cartridge. Monitor the bait stations every 90 days and if termites are active in one of the stations, remoe the inspection cartridge and replace with a bait cartridge. Continue to monitor the stations every 90 days, once termite activity has stopped, remove the bait cartridge and replace with an inspection cartridge. Continue monitoring and repeat the process if necessary. .

If mud is noticed in the inspection cartridges to the Advance Termite Bait Station, we would recommend knocking any cartridges on the ground to dislodge some of the mud. You do not need to replace the wood base with a new base, simply knock any clumps of wood off and replace the existing wood base in the station.
Each Advance Termite Bait Station is approximately 7.5 inches long and 6 inches wide (at the top). Each station holds a wood monitoring base at the bottom with either an inspection or bait cartridge sitting on top of the wood base.
Please view our How to Use the Advanced Termite Bait System Video for more information.
For the Advance Termite Bait Station, you will need a wood monitoring base, an inspection cartridge and tool to access to monitor every couple of months. We do also offer the Trelona Bait Cartridge if there is activity (this will replace the inspection cartridge).
Trelona Termite Bait Cartridges which are used inside the Advance Termite Bait Stations are allowed on properties with wells or cisterns. We do not recommend using insecticides within 5 feet of the well itself. You could use bait stations around the exterior of the well house and also treat any existing or replaced wood using a wood treatment product like Boracare. Keep in mind that termite bait stations may not kill termites that are already in the wood of the structure.
We have a video on our Advance Termite Bait System page which shows exactly that; how to install the stations. You can watch the video on this page.
