    Q
How long after applying a residual spray do I need to wait to use Advion Roach Bait Gel?
    A

You can use an insecticide spray and a bait like Advion Roach Bait Gel in the same room at the same time, just not on the same surfaces.  The rule of thumb is spray low (areas like baseboards, kick plates below cabinets, and under appliances) and bait high (in areas like inside cabinets and drawers and up higher near small appliances such as microwaves, toasters and coffee pots).  Please take a moment to look over our Roach Control Guide for more information on treating and preventing a roach infestation.

    Q
How do I clean out the small, blue injection pins filled with gel bait?
Hello. I've used the product and it works fine, but I can no longer use the 2 small, blue pins because it's filled with the gel bait. I've used warm water because nothing comes out. How can I remove the gel bait from inside the blue pin? Thank you.
    A

You might want to soak longer in hotter water. If a small amount is inside without blocking or causing difficulty dispersing the product it should be fine. Please let us know if you need anything else or if this is not effective.

    Q
How often & how much Advion Roach Bait Gel should I use to kill but not attract more?
    A

When you are treating an active infestation of roaches, it is recommended that you use a pea sized point of Advion Roach Bait Gel. It is recommended that you replace the bait every 14 days. You will use 1 to 3 spots of gel bait per 10 linear feet for light to moderate infestations.Once there is no longer an issue, the Advion Roach Bait Gel no longer needs to be used.

    Q
Can Advion Roach Bait Gel be use vertically on a wall?
    A

Advion Roach Bait Gel and other baits are best applied in cracks and crevices where roaches are hiding or traveling. So, applying in corners or at molding, door hinges, or behind furniture or frames will be much more effective than trying to apply bait in the middle of a wall. You can view a great video on how to use roach baits on the product page by scrolling down into the details of the product information.

    Q
What happens if you squeeze out the Advion Roach Bait Gel in a line not in dollops/drops?
I did this without reading the directions...whoops. Will this make it ineffective?
    A

If you squeeze the Advion Roach Bait Gel out in a line instead of small dabs, we recommend to take the bait up and start all over. Roaches are less likely to be attracted to the bait in long lines rather than dabs which could be interepreted to them as food crumbs.

  • Asked by Linda from Mulberry

    Q
I cleaned out my cabinets and closets and applied Advion Roach Bait Gel as directed. Why am I now seeing more roach activity?
How often should I continue to bait? I am seeing many dead or slowly crawling, but it seems they are multiplying. Help!!
    A

Advion Roach Bait Gel needs to be replaced every 2 weeks (or sooner, if it gets consumed) during an active roach infestation. The increase in number of roaches you are seeing is due to the active ingredient being transfered throughout the colony and causing the roaches' nervous system to overexcite and begin to break down. Each roach that comes in contact with the bait can contaminate up to 40 other roaches by way of contact, feces, or roaches feeding on other poisioned dead roaches. Typically the amount roaches you see out in a home are only a small portion of the roach population size so seeing an increase in activitiy is very normal.

If you have not done so already, you may want to look over our Roach Control Guide for more information on doing a complete roach treatment.

    Q
Can the Advion Roach Bait Gel kill pets?
I have two kittens and I was wondering
    A

The very minute amount of Advion Gel the roaches may eat is not enough to harm your cats. Be sure when putting the gel out that you do put the gel into cracks and crevices and other places that will not be accessible to your cats.

    Q
What happens after the Advion Roach Bait Gel dries?
    A

The gel will work even after it hardens though it does work best when it is soft. The gel will dry out quickly if you place it on a porous surface or if you place it in an area where it is exposed to air currents (heating or cooling vents). You can help avoid these situations by placing the Advion Roach Bait Gel in disposable bait plate stations.  Bait Plate Stations are low-profile, economic and easy-to-use plastic stations that hold gel, liquid and granular baits for ants, roaches and other crawling insects.

I mistakenly applied some in a food prep area. What is the best way to remove it?
    A

If Advion Roach Bait Gel is applied in an undesirable area, the product label recommends removing as much of it as possible by wiping it up, and then washing the affected area with soap and water.

    Q
Could you use Advion Roach Bait Gel in a flat screen TV?
    A

We would not recommend applying any products inside the TV, but you could apply Advion Roach Bait Gel on a piece of tin foil or plastic wrap and set it on and under the flat screen TV. The roaches will be attracted to the gel and eat it and this will help kill the roaches. It will not stop them from dying in the device, however. You could also surround the device with insect glueboards to trap the roaches as they leave to feed.

    Q
Should I treat every room with Advion Roach Bait Gel for potential infestation?
We had a pretty bad infestation of smokey brown roaches last year. I began to see the babies in almost every room beginning in April. By summer I was seeing all ages of roaches during the day and night. With an exterminator and cooler temperatures the activity slowed down to an adult being seen maybe once every couple of weeks. The weather has warmed for about a week and we have seen 3 adults in about 4 days. They seem to be localized to one bathroom at this time. I treated with Advion in the bathroom and the adjoining bedroom. Should I continue to put Advion throughout the rest of the house to prevent another full on infestation? Should I only do the other bathrooms?
    A

It is recommended to apply roach baits such as Advion only in areas where you are currently seeing activity in order to avoid spreading an infestation.

    Q
How soon after my apartment was fogged for roaches can I apply Advion Roach Bait Gel?
I just recently had someone come out and fog my apartment. I ordered the gel bait as a back up. I was wondering if I could use the gel bait now, or if i should wait. I would hate for the gel to counteract with the treatment but I also am disgusted with seeing so many roaches. Its been an on going problem and I just want to get rid of them.
    A

We would would recommend contacting the company that did the fogging to find out the residual of the fogger they used. Foggers generally are used as a flushing treatment and do not leave a long residual. Advion Roach Bait Gel is one of the best roach baits to use but if you have been dealing with roaches for an extended period of time, we recommend using on our Roach Control Kits. Roaches are a persistent pest and require multiple treatments using a combination of products in order to be completely eradicated. Please see our Roach Control Guide for step by step instructions on how to do a full treatment.

    Q
I bought the Advion Roach Bait Gel and I put it out, but a month later the cockroaches are back. Is there anything else I can use for roaches?
    A

We do recommend that you apply the Advion Roach Bait Gel every couple of weeks (after cleaning up previous bait placements). Baiting is going to take some time. We also recommend that you apply a perimeter spray to the cracks and crevices and growth regulation as well. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article, How to Get Rid of Roaches for additional treatment tips.

  • Asked by Jane from Hong Kong

    Q
Will Advion Roach Bait Gel kill a second infestation of baby roaches?
My apartment was heavily infested. I applied Advion and got rid of them for three months, but now I have seen three baby roaches crawling within the past 3 days, and I'm worried. If I bait again, will an infestation be prevented?
    A

Advion Roach Bait Gel can certainly help at the beginning of an infestation. If you are seeing a new population, then there are most likely more in the wall void areas that you are not seeing as well.  We would recommend using more than one product so that you are sure that you are getting all the areas that could be affected, such as the products that come in our Roach Control Kits. These provide a bait, insecticide, and an IGR (Insect Growth Regulator). Generally, you need all three to get a roach problem not only under control, but eliminated as well. Please see our Roach Treatment Guide for more information.
